The framework is based on an expansion of the vector field along an orthonormal basis, and relies on perturbation results for the considered problem. Initially devised for the approximation of ordinary differential equations, it is here further extended and, moreover, generalized to cope with constant delay differential equations. Relevant classes of Runge-Kutta methods can be derived within this framework.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1007\/s10444-022-09992-w","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,11,14]],"date-time":"2022-11-14T08:08:48Z","timestamp":1668413328000},"update-policy":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/doi.org\/10.1007\/springer_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":14,"title":["A new framework for polynomial approximation to differential equations"],"prefix":"10.1007","volume":"48","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-6290-4107","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Luigi","family":"Brugnano","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Gianluca","family":"Frasca-Caccia","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9716-7370","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Felice","family":"Iavernaro","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Vincenzo","family":"Vespri","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"297","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,11,14]]},"reference":[{"key":"9992_CR1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","first-page":"124634","DOI":"10.1016\/j.amc.2019.124634","volume":"363","author":"P Amodio","year":"2019","unstructured":"Amodio, P., Brugnano, L., Iavernaro, F.: A note on the continuous-stage Runge-Kutta-(Nystr\u00f6m) formulation of Hamiltonian Boundary Value Methods (HBVMs).
