It takes fuller advantage of an expert's knowledge than some more automatic approaches and uses model-based reasoning to reduce brittleness. LBUE specifically integrates the learning of efficiency information as in Explanation Based Generalization (EBG) with further learning of the causal model. Expert protocols are coded into a machine readable form and then input to the LBUE process.
