Horty [8] has developed the factor-based models of precedent into a theory of precedential constraint. In this paper we combine binary-input classifier logic (BCL) to classifiers and their explanations given by Liu & Lorini [13, 14] with Horty\u2019s account of factor-based CBR, since both a classifier and CBR map sets of features to decisions or classifications. We reformulate case bases in the language of BCL, and give several representation results. Furthermore, we show how notions of CBR can be analyzed by notions of classifier explanation.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia220451","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,9]],"date-time":"2022-12-09T11:51:17Z","timestamp":1670586677000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":12,"title":["Modelling and Explaining Legal Case-Based Reasoners Through Classifiers"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Xinghan","family":"Liu","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"IRIT-CNRS, University of Toulouse, France"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Emiliano","family":"Lorini","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"IRIT-CNRS, University of Toulouse, France"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Antonino","family":"Rotolo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Alma Human AI, University of Bologna, Italy"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Giovanni","family":"Sartor","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Alma Human AI, University of Bologna, Italy"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Legal Knowledge and Information Systems"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA220451","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,9]],"date-time":"2022-12-09T11:51:19Z","timestamp":1670586679000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA220451"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,5]]},"ISBN":["9781643683645","9781643683652"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/2.zoppoz.workers.dev:443\/https\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia220451","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,5]]}}}
