From September 14-17, ethical hackers gathered in Linz for the finals of the Austria Cyber Security Challenge 2026 🏆 ! The ACSC takes place once a year and is organized by CyberSecurityAustria CSA and the Cybersecurity Center TU Wien. The event brought together the best participants from the qualification rounds in a bid to solve #CTF challenges. Participants competed in two age groups and an open category: ages 14 to 20 (Juniors), ages 21 to 25 (Seniors), and an open class for anyone interested in ethical hacking, regardless of age or education. This year, teams competed in an attack-and-defense challenge, in which they had to find and fix a set of security weaknesses in their systems while simultaneously attempting to exploit weaknesses in other teams’ systems. Success depended not only on each participant’s technical expertise but also on effective group organization and teamwork, as well as on the ability to adapt quickly and perform under pressure. Other highlights included a Live Capture-the-Flag contest and a hardware challenge from Siemens. “ACSC is the main initiative in Austria to foster young talents in cybersecurity. Participants acquire and develop skills that are immediately applicable in the real world, contributing to shortening the cybersecurity skills gap and improving the overall security of our digital society," says Marco Squarcina, who is part of the organizing team and assistant professor at TU Wien Informatics. We congratulate the winners of the #ACSC2026: #Juniors: Joachim Eder, Tim Pichler, Max Sitter, Konrad Fidler, Simon Rechberger, Alexander Sauberer, Tobias Kendlbacher. #Seniors: Christoph Tantscher, Katia Eder, Benjamin Oberdorfer, Maximilian Felix Richmond, Wiltschko, Nikolaus Haider, Darius-Cristian Pavelescu, Jannik S. #OpenClass: Markus Müllner, Arthur Deierlein, Jonas Heschl, Maybrit Schröder, Dominik Apel.
