Secure Connect Timelines and Updates
VPN Access Upgrade Start Dates
Campus-managed work devices (NOT personal/unmanaged devices)
As part of UC San Diego's Secure Connect initiative, we're adding new, more secure VPN connection options this spring. These new "secure-connect" options will gradually replace the current "2-Step Secured" options. This update strengthens security while keeping the VPN experience simple and familiar.
These new Secure Connect VPN options are for campus-managed work computers (computers set up and maintained by your department's IT team). If you use VPN from a personal device, continue using the existing "2-Step Secured" options until further notice.
Instructions
Once your unit's enablement date arrives:
- Open your VPN client (vpn.ucsd.edu)
- Select one of the “secure-connect” VPN connection options instead of “2-Step Secured”:
- secure-connect-split
- secure-connect-allthru
