  • In Northern Uganda, small businesses are transforming communities. We equip agribusinesses with the practical tools they need to scale, export, and empower women and youth to take the driver's seat. Here is what targeted business support looks like in action: 🌿 Blessed Organic Release: With ITC support, the business secured its first $80,000 certified organic export deal. Today, this woman-led enterprise works with 6,000 farmers, producing 10 tonnes of shea butter annually for global cosmetics brands. 🚜 Agrimarks Farm Supplies: Following ITC gender inclusion training, Agrimarks redesigned its credit schemes, enabling women to access high-quality seeds without collateral. 🌳 Youth for Life Tree Planting: With ITC support, this cooperative grew its revenue by nearly 30% in just one year, empowering farmers to build homes and reliably pay school fees. You don’t need a POS machine to take payments in Ghana. A payment link does the same job, and setting one up takes about three minutes on a phone.   We’ll show you how this July, across four free webinars for small businesses.   Part of every session is spent setting things up together. After the fourth, you’ll have a WhatsApp Business catalogue, a payment link, a product post written and optimised with AI and designed in Canva, a month of income and expense, and a one-page dashboard tracking your income, costs and profit.   On 2 July, banks and fintechs join us live to present their funding products and take your questions.   This initiative is delivered through the ITC SheTrades and UPS Women Exporters Programme, and co-delivered with Ghana Export Promotion Authority (host of SheTrades Ghana Hub). If you hear "Korea", something immediately comes to mind. Perhaps BTS, K-beauty or Samsung smartphones. That recognition is soft power. And Korea’s soft power – grounded in hard economic power – is built on a unique development story. Over just a few decades, Korea transitioned from an aid recipient to a developed economy and donor. That journey matters because of how it shapes Korea’s approach to development. Korea’s model is not rooted in traditional notions of aid. It is anchored in investment in ecosystems, private sector-led innovation and equal partnerships with developing countries. As I heard throughout my visit to Seoul last week, including in my meeting with Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Jonghan Park of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea, there is a clear commitment to giving back to the system that enabled Korea’s rise. That commitment is reflected in how Korea engages globally, through tech transfer and human capital development. Korea invests in tech transfer as a right, changing the economic trajectory of developing countries. Not “helicopter” technical assistance, but locally adapted solutions that enable countries to move up value chains and diversify their economies. This approach is at the heart of our partnership with Korea. With KOICA, we are investing in people, supporting women in West Africa to move up agri-value chains to generate over $4.6 million in business, and working with refugees and host communities in Kenya to build sustainable livelihoods in digital services and other sectors. In Sierra Leone, through our work with KOICA and the Korea-Africa Foundation, we are targeting 10,000 youth for digital entrepreneurship. As part of the first ODA project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Republic of Korea, 대한민국 중소벤처기업부, we worked with 중소벤처기업진흥공단(Korea SMEs Startups Agency) to adapt Korea’s Youth Startup Academy model to developing country contexts. In Uganda, with local partner HIVE COLAB, we launched 1,000+ youth-led startups, creating 3,700 jobs and unlocking $3 million in investment and $10 million in sales. In Colombia, with iNNpulsa Colombia, we're supporting 1,000 young entrepreneurs in early stage and scale-up acceleration, securing over $5 million in investment.   At the systems level, our work with the Public Procurement Service, Republic of Korea is opening access for small businesses to the $13 trillion global public procurement market, including through our Procurement Map. And through long-standing cooperation with KOTRA and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, we are strengthening business support ecosystems and policy reform, so countries can better partake in trade, including through the WTO. Across all these initiatives, the goal is the same: Build ecosystems that last. Enable countries to shape their own journeys. Of all its exports, Korea’s greatest may well be its model of development that empowers others to rise, alongside.

At the first-ever UN dialogue dedicated to trade and climate action, in Bonn, ITC delivered a key message, climate action must make business sense. As the UN agency that guides small businesses through the green transition, we recognize the mounting pressures they face from both climate impacts and evolving sustainability requirements. Here is how our expertise turns these challenges into green competitiveness: ✅ We equipped West African cocoa farmers with climate-smart tools to sustainably boost their incomes. ✅ We helped Caribbean entrepreneurs transform invasive sargassum seaweed into profitable, eco-friendly products.
