They can only be built with qmake, since they're missing a CMakeLists.txt file, and even if you try to build them, the build will fail since the DECLARATIVE_EXAMPLE_MAIN macro in shared.h were at some point updated to prepend the resource patch to have the same prefix that the AUTO_RESOURCE_PREFIX cmake flag provides. Which had the side effect of causing these examples to no longer build out of the box. The purpose of the examples has been to demonstrate how to make custom controls. Today we recommend users to instead make custom styles for QQC2, which the flatstyle example demonstrate how to do.
