At Monet+, our people form the core of our business. ⛰️To step back and strengthen the teams that build our solutions, we recently headed to the Vysočina region for Monettour, our annual company offsite. It was a well-balanced few days of activity, rest, and genuine connection across departments - from hiking, mountain biking, and climbing to biathlon, a local brewery visit, and evenings around the campfire with a guitar. A part of the event was recognizing this year’s 🏆 Top Gear award winners - colleagues who bring great initiative, learn new skills, support their peers, or help drive their entire team forward. Tomas Popelka joined Monet+ more than twenty years ago. Back then, we were just a small group of enthusiasts. Today, his expertise in identification documents, mobile authentication, and IT security protects the data of millions of users every day. Even with Monet+ recently being named Company of the Year 2025, Tomáš remains a technician at heart. He prefers staying out of the spotlight, focusing on building systems that speak for themselves. Over the years, he has helped deliver highly critical backend systems for governments and banks, and he was instrumental during the launch of the widely used ČSOB SmartKlíč. Right now, he is looking ahead to the next major IT security challenge. With the advancement of sufficiently powerful quantum computers, current cryptography will inevitably be broken. To stay ahead of this threat, Tomáš leads the development of post-quantum cryptographic (#PQC) solutions to secure future ID documents before the danger becomes reality. ✈️ Our colleagues Libor Šmíd and Lukáš Pugner are heading to Montréal, Canada, for the 21st ICAO TRIP Symposium, taking place September 22–24, 2026, at ICAO Headquarters. This year's theme – “Putting Trust into Practice: Towards Trusted Travel Identity for All” – perfectly aligns with what we do at Monet+. We have a long-standing commitment to the secure digitalization of personal identities. To date, our systems have empowered the issuance of over 28,000,000 passports, ID cards, and other documents. Quantum computers are already a real threat to the digital trust we rely on in everyday business.
