This 3D-printed café was built to survive hurricane season ⛈️ In St Petersburg, Florida, flooding and storms are a fact of life. Paradeco Coffee Roasters needed their new coffee bar to survive that, and daily wear, without straining the environment. They turned to Haddy, a robotic 3D-printing manufacturer running a microfactory of eight robots and 15 people that can produce up to 100 pieces a day. Every piece for Paradeco's new coffee bar was digitally measured and simulated before a single cut was made. "The metaverse that's provided by Siemens tools makes it possible for us to look and measure once, twice, a thousand times before we cut," says John B. Rogers, Jr., CEO and co-founder of Haddy. That precision let Haddy's robots run overnight unsupervised, cut material waste, and print the bar from recycled polymers durable enough for Florida's coastal conditions. Today, that bar serves plenty of happy customers, hurricane season or not. It's a glimpse of what small teams can build when digital precision meets circular materials.

Digitalization revitalized our 50-year-old factory in India 🇮🇳 At our low-voltage switchgear factory in Kalwa, near Mumbai, digitalization has transformed a decades-old site into a sustainable Digital Enterprise. ✅ More than 350 product variants produced on a single line, up from 77 across three lines. ✅ Cycle times reduced from around 21 seconds to just 9 seconds per product. ✅ Production capacity increased by 35%. ✅ Carbon footprint reduced by 86%. By combining Digital Twins, IT/OT convergence, automation, and data-driven decision-making, Kalwa demonstrates how digital transformation can improve productivity, flexibility, quality, and sustainability at the same time.

Half the carbon footprint of a bottle of wine sits in the packaging, not the wine itself. So why not change the packaging. John-Paul Grogan, product director at Frugalpac, designs bottles from recycled paperboard with a recyclable liner instead of glass. The hard part was never the material. It was commercializing it at scale. With a stable automation platform behind it, the FBAM2 machine in Ipswich, UK, now produces 14 million bottles a year. The scale of the problem it addresses is worth pausing on. Glass wine bottles alone generate 18.5 million tons of carbon a year, equivalent to Panama's entire national output, from 33 billion bottles produced annually. The Frugal Bottle has up to six times lower carbon footprint than glass, and it separates cleanly for recycling: plastic with plastic, paper with paper. Reducing the carbon footprint of wine and spirits does not always start with a new ingredient. Sometimes it starts with the packaging.

A decommissioned train just became a new one. 🚆♻️ What happens when an old high-speed train reaches the end of its life? In the #Train2Train pilot project, it didn't become waste. It became the starting point for something new. Together with our partners, we helped recover materials and components from a retired train and turn them into new ones, proving that circularity can work even for something as complex as rail. Here's what it showed: 🔹 Old materials can become new products 🔹 Digital traceability makes circular supply chains possible 🔹 Collaboration is what makes it all work 🔹 Circularity can scale And this goes far beyond trains. If we can close the loop on a high-speed train, what could we do with buildings, energy infrastructure, electronics, and more? The future isn't just about using less. 🇳🇱 The Netherlands is famous for two things: tulips, and refusing to sink. Drones are helping with the second one. Across the Netherlands, drones now fly along the dikes protecting land that sits below sea level, capturing high-resolution images as they go. #AI scans that imagery for cracks, seepage, and unexpected vegetation growth, flagging exactly where a closer look is needed. Finding a crack is only useful if it leads to a fix. Together with Aerosophia, part of the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem, we connect that data to #DigitalTwins and maintenance workflows, so inspectors can walk a virtual dike, zoom into any weak spot, and get straight to what needs repairing. That combination, drone data, AI, and a clear path to action, is what's helping water authorities stay ahead of the risk instead of reacting to it.
