If you want to install FileBrowser Quantum like a Android app, we have two ways to achieve this:
1. With the browser "Add to home screen" option:
Filebrowser itself support this option, you can install it as progressive web app with your preferred browser.
The only downside of this is that is only limited to the home screen.
Steps:
https://your-filebrowser-url.comorhttp://server-ip:port.Add to the home screen:InstallandCreate shortcut, both options are similar, I'll explain them.Install: Add a shortcut of the web. If you open the shortcut you'll notice that you don't have the browser UI (like the URL bar) that you normally have. (I recommend this one)
Create a shortcut: Do the same, adds a shortcut identical as the first but with the browser UI included, is like if you opened the page manually on the browser.
And... That's all! you can now access filebrowser easily within your home screen!
2. Webview wrapper app (made by me)
This is an android app that I've made, and I'm sharing it here because someone could find find this useful!
I made this app because I wanted to have filebrowser as a "real" app that shows on the app drawer of my launcher (my launcher don't let me add shortcuts to the home screen), plus have separate cache (browser cache) and cookies from my main browser, and some extra things that I added.
There are only a few differences between the First option that I explained above:
Is like any other app that you have on your phone (is not limited just on the home screen), so you can search it if you have a lot of apps on your device with the app drawer of your phone launcher.
Custom toast notification when uploading or downloading a file.
Custom screen when there is no connection.
A bit of better performance. I enabled hardware acceleration for the app.
Custom gestures: swipe down with two fingers for refresh and three fingers for delete cookies.
I plan to add other minor things, but I think that for now is enough.
For install the app you can visit my repo and download the apk from the releases page. (you can also see all the source code of the app if you want).
For use the app just enter your filebrowser URL on the startup screen, that's all.
You can choose your preferred option, the progressive web app or the wrapper :D
I hope that you find this useful and that all was clear enough. Let me know if I made some mistake or I need to improve something and I'll update. Looking forward to see how FBQ evolve more in the future!
