Status for convivial, malleable, re-editable software #51

Description

@khinsen

I would like to request adding a status that describes what is referred to as "convivial", "malleable", or "re-editable" software, and which applies to a lot of research software.

The general idea is software that is shared without any intention of maintenance, stable releases, etc. It may serve as executable documentation for a research project or an algorithm, as a starting point that others can adapt to their own needs, as a source of inspiration, etc. It is not for users but for peers, i.e. people who have the competence to write similar code.

The closest I find in the current list of statuses is WIP, but the description of WIP suggests a transient state, a project in an early state that works towards a stable release.

My preferred name for such a new status is "convivial", with reference to Ivan Illich's book "Tools for conviviality".
