The pull request tab not showing correct count after merging the PR

For example you have 6 open PRs, you see number 6 in the PR tab by default.

Now if I merge any one PR, the number should be updated to 5 in display (in tab) but its not. Although the number updates when you refresh.

This usually happens because the Pull Request counter dose'nt update instantly after merging due to caching or UI refresh delays .

Browser cache delay ->
The UI may still show the old count until the page fully refreshes .
GitHub updates counts asynchronously , so the number may take a short time to sync after a merge .Sometimesthe tab is showing a filtered view (Open PRs vs All PRs ), which can make the number look incorrect.if you merged the PR in another tab/session , the current page may not reflect the change immediately.

so , Refresh the page (hard refresh if possible), check the PR filters (Open/closed/Merged) , wait a few minutes the github to sync , or Try Opening the repo in another browser or incognito mode .

I'm fairly certain that this is behavior that used to work and is broken now.

If the count updates eventually, why not update it optimistically once I merge a PR? This may not be noticeable in a repository with lots of updates and PRs, but for a small repository the UI is obviously broken if the list says "1 open" and the "Pull Requests" tab shows a "(2)" badge - especially after you come back from merging a PR. This feels like a regression that has made using PRs feel broken and missing the level of attention that one would expect from the product.

this is consistently broken on one specific repo for me - very odd
