    Today, we’re launching Microsoft Community-First Grants, a new $1 million fund to support nonprofits that are not already directly receiving Microsoft grant funding and are addressing urgent community needs. We’re starting with organizations in King County because our responsibility begins in the communities we call home but will expand to other regions of the state in the future.   This is just the latest effort in Microsoft's ongoing commitment to give where we live.     I've seen many periods of significant change over the course of my career. This moment feels different, not only because of how quickly AI is advancing, but because of the choices it asks leaders to make about how work changes and how people grow with it.   No organization has all the answers. What we can bring is a growth mindset: the willingness to experiment, learn from what doesn’t work, and keep adapting as the technology and our understanding of it evolves.   That’s why we committed to being Customer Zero. If we want to help customers realize the full value of AI, we need firsthand experience with the hard, deeply human work of transformation.   Today, we’re sharing more of that experience in Microsoft’s Frontier Playbook, drawing on hundreds of AI transformation efforts across the company. It includes what worked, where we failed, and how those lessons are changing the way we lead, build skills, and redesign work.   We’re still learning. But by sharing what we’ve learned so far, I hope we can help more organizations approach this moment with both ambition and humility, while creating a future in which technology helps people and organizations do more than they could before. It’s an ongoing discipline that must evolve alongside the technology itself.    This year’s report shares how we’ve re-engineered our Responsible AI Standard to address emerging AI capabilities, strengthened our risk-based approach to governance, and continued to translate what we’re learning into the tools, practices, and processes that help operationalize responsible AI across Microsoft.  While technology continues to evolve, our AI principles remain a constant foundation. They guide how we approach new challenges, evaluate risks, and build accountability into our work. Transparency is an important part of that process. By sharing our progress, challenges, and lessons learned, our goal is to contribute to stronger AI governance across the broader ecosystem. No organization can do this alone. Advancing responsible AI will require continued collaboration, shared learning, and collective action across industry, government, academia, and civil society.
