From IITG to Seligman Ventures: Ashish Kakran Speaks at Pravah 2026

Ashish Kakran (B.Tech CSE, Class of 2009) conducted a seminar for students about his professional journey from IIT Guwahati to steering investments at one of the world's leading technology and healthcare firms.

The SAIL (Student Alumni Interaction Linkage) Cell of IIT Guwahati hosted the latest edition of Pravah on 14th April 2026 at 6:00 PM in Conference Hall 1.

The session featured Ashish Kakran, Managing Partner at Seligman Ventures.

Seligman Ventures invests in early-stage and pre-IPO companies in artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and modern data-centre hardware. Kakran co-leads the firm alongside Umesh Padval.

At the session, Kakran spoke to students about his time at IIT Guwahati (General Secretary of Students Welfare Board, Zero Illiteracy Zone Social Responsibility Campaign, organiser Alcheringa and Techniche). He offered a firsthand account of his path from campus to his current role.
