Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it submitted to another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission has been prepared using the LaTeX typesetting system, an 11- or 12-point font, and single line spacing. The submission itself is in Portable Document Format (PDF). The authors are prepared, upon acceptance, to use the journal's class file (jocg.cls) to produce the final camera-ready version of their paper.
  • The submission has page numbers and line numbers (use the LaTeX package lineno.sty)
  • Where available, each reference should be accompanied with a DOI. This is helpful for both reviewers and future readers.
  • Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to upload any supplementary files (e.g., data-sets, programs, etc.) that support their work.
  • During the submission process, authors are asked to provide an abstract. This should be an identical copy of the abstract in the paper, including LaTeX markup.
  • The section headings of the paper should use title case (see, e.g., the Chicago Manual of Style). In particular:
    (i) Capitalize the first and the last word;
    (ii) Capitalize nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions;
    (iii) Lowercase articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions, and prepositions (regardless of length).

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts accepted for publication in JoCG must be prepared using the journal class file jocg.cls in the same manner as jocg-sample.tex to produce output similar to jocg-sample.pdf (see also jocg-sample-notes.pdf). Final manuscripts should be submitted as PDF files with a US letter (8.5"x11") page size. For some LaTeX installations, authors may need to download fancyhdr.sty. For Ubuntu users, we recommend the texlive-full or texlive-all packages.

  • Neither use page numbers nor line numbers.
  • Do not include a table of contents.
  • Make sure that all figures and tables are within the text margins.
  • Use title case for section headings (see the submission preparation checklist above).
  • Make sure that all fonts in your PDF are type-1 or true type (see "properties/fonts" in your PDF viewer).
  • Double-check and revise the meta-data associated with the submission (names of authors, affiliations, orcids). In particular, make ensure that the abstract still matches that in the submitted PDF.
  • For the references, use the BibTeX style plainurl (by adding \bibliographystyle{plainurl} to your LaTeX file) and provide a DOI wherever available. Be consistent in abbreviating (or not abbreviating) first names, journal names, conference names. Do not list irrelevant information such as the exact dates of conferences etc.
