Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!?

Idol group F/ACE has recently risen in popularity all thanks to Tamon Fukuhara—its handsome, wild, and talented leader. Seventeen-year-old Utage Kinoshita is one of the vocal fans who greatly admires F/ACE. As her life revolves around worshiping Tamon, Utage works at a housecleaning company to earn money and continue supporting him.

When her coworker gets sick, Utage is assigned to a new client with the same name as Tamon. She believes it is merely a coincidence—until she comes face to face with the real celebrity! Her surprise only grows when she discovers that, unlike the extroverted superstar known to the public, Tamon is actually a gloomy guy with no friends or self-confidence.

Given that Utage's adoration for Tamon knows no bounds, she vows to keep his secret and stay by his side—but dealing with Tamon's contrasting behaviors in and out of work might be the toughest job out there.

As I've been reading the manga since 2024 and loving this series, I'm delighted by the animation and everything about the anime.It's been a while since we have gotten a cute,wholesome,fun,slow burn rom-com shoujo series with interesting cast of characters.

Characters: What's unique about this series is that the characters and their b-side personalities which makes this series really funny.Our FMC Utage is also one of the best girl in shoujo. She maybe a huge and obsessive fan of Tamon but she knows her boundaries and how to be respectful.All the F/ACE members have their own stories and personalities. This series shows that no one is ... perfect we think that celebrities are perfect but in real they are humans and have flaws too.Also the slow progress in the relation between Utage and Tamon is soo cute.

Animation:The animation is actually top notch for a rom-com anime. The effects and the use of CGI in the songs are also great.

Songs:the all songs of F/ACE are really great and catchy. Their VA's did amazing job in singing.

Conclusion: If you want to refresh your mind with some light hearted slow burn rom-com series with amazing cast of characters then this is a must watch.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (5/13 eps)

I honestly have very mixed feelings about Tamons b side. I love the premises even though it’s a bit cheesy it’s cute and tamon and the other members of f/ace interest me. The music for the show, the animation and concepts of face and their fans are creative but I think my problem lies more with Utage. She is not really an mc I like or can root for? Is she suppose to be “relatable” but I find her spending all her money and time praising an idol she doesn’t know weird and her calling Tamon god yelling at him and any of the ... humour surrounding her i genuinely find to be extremely cringey. She is not only a parasocial fan that’s played for laughs she genuinely is so bland and shallow? She likes Tamon for his looks (gloomyhara is ok because he’s still hot tamon!) and is basically coaching him to be like his idol persona but I cannot get behind that concept i genuinely feel bad for Tamon and the pressure and self esteem issues he has and the only person he has helping him is a parasocial fans who views him like god and wants him to be like persona his company made him be and not because she also appreciates his true self. I genuinely hope it gets better but do think this will be the main humour and how the mc is which is disappointing, her behaviour is not normal- it’s creepy and not quirky, I think if the mc was different I would have liked this show better but her wanting Tamon to be for the people and not want to date him is weird I’m sorry.

TL;DR: if the mc was different and not a parasocial, shallow weirdo the story could’ve progressed better and I would have liked it!

Preliminary (5/13 eps)

Dropped Review: Tamon's B-Side (up to episode 5 dropped and not looking back)

This anime is like ordering a comedy special and getting a cleaning tutorial with idol music in the background, looks cute, but the laughs are nowhere to be found.

The good, the only reason I didn't drop it at episode 1:
The art is legitimately beautiful. Tamon in idol mode looks like he stepped out of a high budget photoshoot, and Utage's pink hair and expressions are pure eye candy. The character designs are clean, colorful, and way better than most rom coms in this budget range. The idol performance scenes actually have some polish, ... smooth animation, nice lighting, and it feels like they put real effort into making Tamon shine. If you're watching just to stare at pretty boys and girls, this delivers.

The bad, and holy hell, it's bad:
The comedy is straight up baby level. Most jokes are "Tamon's room is messy lol", "Utage is panicking lol", or "Tamon is lazy lol". I laughed exactly once in episode 2 when Tamon dramatically said "I'm dying from overwork" while lying on the couch like a dead fish. After that? Nothing. The rest felt like watching your little cousin try to tell a joke he heard in kindergarten.
Characters are paper thin. Utage is your standard "obsessed fangirl" trope with zero personality beyond screaming and cleaning. Tamon's "dual life" is just "depressed slob vs perfect idol", no depth, no real conflict, just gags that repeat every episode. The side characters? Background noise.
Pacing is slower than Tamon getting off the couch. Episodes 3–5 are basically "clean house and idol practice and repeat" with zero progression or charm. The "romance" is non existent, it's "will they or won't they" without the "they" part even starting.

Final verdict:
Tamon's B-Side has gorgeous art and nothing else. The comedy is so weak and repetitive I literally zoned out multiple times. If you're looking for actual laughs, watch literally any other rom com (Kaguya-sama, Horimiya, Grand Blue, etc.).
This is only worth it if you just want to stare at pretty visuals while half asleep. Dropped at episode 5 because life's too short for unfunny "comedy" that feels like homework.

4/10*
+2 for the surprisingly good art and one actual chuckle in episode 2.
-6 for baby tier jokes, zero character depth, and pacing that makes paint drying look exciting.

If you're here for laughs, run away. If you're here for wallpaper material, enjoy, but don't expect anything else.
