As an Ecchi fan I really dislike your To-Love-Ru article, I feel it comes off as a pretentious attack/offense, genuinely asking, like, are some people on this site just focused on attacking things "adolescent/young teenagers" (words you love to use in an odd way) love? To fulfill an empty ego?

I really want to question your article also because a lot of adult women love To-Love-Ru, and it doesn't matter if they like it the most compared to your personal "serious" fav Ecchi anime. When someone says that To-Love-Ru or any other Ecchi anime is their favorite they're not attacking others and their likings, they're simply stating that out of all of these anime this one is relatable to them, and another thing I wanted to question is that just because someone turns into an adult this doesn't mean they completely change their personality or sense of what is sexy, because when it comes to that no one is above others regarding that, mind you lots of people who like To-Love-Ru are past or in between their 20s already, meaning they are either young/late adults, not adolescent boys or teenagers as you've claimed here:

-> "For young teenage boys of a certain ilk, To-Love-Ru was the hottest manga and anime property ever. In the same magazine that ran Naruto and Bleach was another with hot alien anime babes flinging themselves at a self-insert male lead. I'm here to tell you that you are wrong! Not that I don't understand, having once been a teenage boy myself watching Love Hina. But you could be watching something so much hotter! To-Love-Ru is what a young teenage boy thinks is sexy. Here are some far sexier anime for you."

It comes off as pretentious because you're trying to paint To-Love-Ru as "problematic Harem anime/look at my better sense of what is sexy compared to yours" while complaining the characters are not overly serious or complex, first of all, it's a lie to claim all the characters are completely one-dimensional and have no personality/character development. To-Love-Ru is comedic Ecchi anime, it isn't about being serious or "realistic" in terms of writing, and characters, if anything most of the appeal is for the opposite, being loved exactly because they're unrealistic to an extent. This is what makes fantasy, and anime so loved. As opposed to what you say here:

-> "Let's not step too far out of our comfort zone and stick to harems featuring a teenage boy being surrounded by a bunch of pretty ladies. The problem with something like To-Love-Ru is the girls are incredibly one-dimensional. They are the lazy fantasies of an adolescent boy, just throwing themselves at you. What's actually sexy is real ladies with real dreams and fears of their own. When they fall in love with you, it's not because they are simple-minded women who couldn't hold another thought in their head. It's because they, through a series of deep thoughts and complex emotions, decided that you were an incredibly sexy guy."

Here's the issue, you're not wrong for liking and wanting series with "fanservice", that have more seriousness or realistic writing in their female characters, for them to not be simple or throw themselves at their love interest, or just any other preference you might have. What truly makes this article arrogant, disrespectful and suspicious is the fact of you bringing your own hypocrisy of liking it when you was an "young teenager" and now trying to preach to others that they're liking is poor, if you was poor back then you have no moral to say things like "you could be watching something hotter." Let me tell you something, your sense of sexy is not, and will never be the same or better than others, both men and women are equal and different at the same time, a lot of women and men will always like the same sexy characters when they were younger or have the same sense when they become adults. And if their hobby is liking harem series with these sexy characters you have no right to talk down on them to try come off as "superior", because you're not. We are able to appreciate simple and more complex characters the same way, we don't need to put one down to bring up the other in such way.

It would be slightly better if you just admitted somewhere that you're a mediocre Harem hater always looking for a chance to disrespect/attack authors, and fans of the genre with passive-agressive commentary to be boasted about your bland ego, akin to a modern feminist kind, it seems that from 2016 to 2017 some people here really started to make some of the most obnoxious articles with this attitude/tone as seem in some of your other articles:

-> There probably were some yandere characters before Shuffle, but in the modern context, it was Shuffle that brought the yandere into harems and gave lazy creators another character archetype to latch on to. Just give your heroine a blank stare, psychotic acts, and a love of box cutters and you've got yourself another character for your harem dating sim.

Just to end the rant I will mention 3 last things, I would like to leave here an actual good article to make others interested in To-Love-Ru, and not to push or shame them away like yours:

To Love-Ru: Unguilt the Guilty Pleasure! By Mugisa.

My personal favorite recommendation of a great Ecchi anime for others to try is Highscool DxD, because of a very specific episode that indulges in a very thought-provoking theme related to this guy To-Love-Ru article.

Nowadays in the world we live in there's huge increase of many cases regarding fake/abusive friendships, toxic relationships/cheating/divorces; maternal and paternal as well, depression, sexual repression, censorship and so on. With all that going on in the young head, it's not surprising that "the young teenagers" would prefer to engage in a fantasy like Harem, because it's not as harmful as their reality, the reason why many "adolescent boys" like the genre is not because they want to "control women", or have a personal "sexual doll" that will never question them, because they are incels who can only live thinking about sex 24/7, it's because they are abandoned and disrespected by this shitty society that instead of helping and supporting people they say things like "Uh huh tHis AnIme WaS MaDe bY SoMeoNe wHo JuSt dIscOveRed BoObs, hOw PaThetic", so they are seeking a genuine connection with something, that will not lie, use, abuse, betray or mock them, also what's the problem with just having a thing for boobs or any other stuff? Are you the semen police, attraction police or something? This literally proves that the so-called "degenerates" are not really as degenerate as they're being labelled, some people don't like to go far or simply don't want to, anyone has their right to have a harmless fantasy, IT'S FICTION! We are not watching anime to be remembered about real world issues and realism all the time because we already know this shit, sadly the reality of having genuine human connections these days is becoming more like a fantasy, and the fantasy you mock ironically is becoming an example of a better reality. Instead of trying to mock and control what others enjoy to relax or whatever you should try being more open minded, at least more critical, but on yourself. And be consistent too, if you're going to call out "lazy adolescent boys", call out the other gender as well and the "lazy Yaoi/reverse harem with idealized standards barely any men can meet", don't be a coward or afraid to do that since it's way easier to attack males when it comes to that.
