Lando is for developers who want to: Quickly specify and painlessly spin up the services and tooling needed to develop their projects. Ship these local development dependencies in a per-project, lives-in-git config file Automate complex build steps, testing setups, deployments or other repeated-more-than-once workflows Avoid the built-in-masochism of directly using docker or docker-compose It's a free, open source, cross-platform, local development environment and DevOps tool built on Docker container technology and developed by Lando Alliance a Washington DC registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. It's designed to work with most major languages, frameworks and services, Lando provides an easy way for developers of all skill levels to specify simple or complex requirements for their projects, and then quickly get to work on them. Think of it as your local development dependency management and automation tool. Over the last year or so we've watched our community grow from several hundred users to over 10,000 and this exponential growth trajectory doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon! As such we want to make sure Lando has a healthy and sustainable foundation for continued future growth. This means getting contributions from the community to help cover Lando's growing infrastructure costs and to get a dedicated full time developer or two to provide consistent Support on Slack Bug fixes and regular releases New features and integrations Documentation, guides and examples Feelings of relief, empowerment and freedom If you find that Lando saves you time, money, frustration, etc then we highly encourage you to join and support our movement so that together we can continue to liberate more and more developers from the shackles of unnecessary work, repeatable steps and tool-fighting and can ensure Lando remains the best and only development tool you need for millennia to come!
