Nice desktop. I dig the transparent tail / temrinal in the top right and I love the Salma Hayek line.
While this is a pretty standard (and very solid) Englightenment desktop, I did notice a couple quirks in the screenshot.
First off, it looks like our buddy has edited out his entire buddy list. Either that or he has no friends on ICQ.
Next, homie is either a serious music fan (which, given the MTV2 mpeg, he may be) or super into the movie Go, because Shooting up in Vein wasn’t ever released as a single.
Not judging, just trying to keep an Eagle-eye out.
The reason why Catherine Zeta Jones (thumbnails, not the background - that’s Natalie Portman) features so prominently in 2000 era desktops is because Entrapment had just come out with that scene where she’s in the catsuit. It’s possibly the weirdest Welsch / Scott movie duo of all time, but hey.
I don’t have much more to say about this one, other than how much I approve of the Monkey Island window. That’s a classic.
So, yeah. Our buddy Spectre908 is:
- in high school
- good at chemistry
- oblivious / unsympathetic to his friend’s family issues
- sufficiently self aware of the hilarity of l33t sp34k
My only real issue with this desktop is the imbecilic use of a script font in the terminal & menus. I can’t read any of that shit.
I really like this desktop, especially how the directory icons appear as if they’re inset into the concrete-like background pattern.
The window theme is excellent too with it’s black-> purple block gradient thing. And I really dig how the performance monitor is rearranged into a square format instead of the typical stacked column.
Just great work here.
