No, Pala takes a fundamentally different approach. While Squarespace and Wix are closed systems focused on visual editing for non-developers, Pala is built for teams that need both developer control and content editor ease-of-use. Unlike traditional site builders:

Developers have direct code access and can use modern development tools (Svelte, NPM packages, etc.)
Components are truly reusable across sites, not just templates
The design system is code-based rather than interface-based
You maintain full control over your code and can implement custom functionality

What technical knowledge is needed to use it?

Basic HTML and CSS knowledge is enough to get started with Pala. While it's built with Svelte, you don't need prior Svelte experience – the component model builds naturally on HTML and CSS fundamentals, making it easy to learn as you go. More complex features may require JavaScript knowledge.

Does it support headless CMS functionality?

Headless API support is a top priority on our roadmap but isn't currently supported out of the box. If you're self-hosting Pala, you can interact directly with your database, but official headless support is coming soon.

Is it production-ready?

After a complete rearchitecture in v3, Pala is now in its release-candidate stage as of late October 2025 — stable, fast, and powering real production sites.

How does it handle SEO?

What's the hosting and deployment story?

Pala is a single app that serves both the CMS and your site. Editors make changes in the CMS, and on publish it regenerates the affected pages as static HTML and serves them directly.

Are there pre-built templates and components available?

Yes, Pala has a marketplace with free Starters (complete site templates) and Blocks (reusable components) that you can use to quickly build your site. The marketplace is actively growing with new additions. You can use these as-is or customize them to match your needs, and any block you create can also be reused across your own sites.
