What code do I use to develop a program in Dev C++? I've tried several and none work. Where are the libraries located so I can try to determine what code I should try? Terry |

How about including the RIGHT header, named fstream not fstream.h . C++ library headers don't use the .h suffix! You should switch and download Code::Blocks instead together with reasonably new gcc compiler. The golden years for Dev-C++ was quite a number of years ago. /Per W On Wed, 4 Feb 2015, mofana mphaka wrote: > Hi all, > > I have just downloaded Dev-C++ compiler and installed it. Hi all, I have just downloaded Dev-C++ compiler and installed it. I have been using Microsoft Visual C++. Now, I thought I could just compile my old programs and get started but phew! My problem is: MS C++ to use/access the file stream objects like: fstream, ostream etc, I would need to include the header file fstream.h. Now, Dev-C++ does not have this header file. Can anyone tell me which file I should include? I am desperate to compile my programs. ------------------------------------------- mofana mphaka Mathematics and Computer Science Department National University of Lesotho LESOTHO mailto:mof...@gm...; cc: mo...@nu... http://cs.nul.ls/~mofana Cell: (+266) 63167562 Office: (+266) (5221)3518 Home: (+266) 27058532 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you don't understand the fuss about fuzzy logic, try understanding this: If not P is true then P is false ... right? (ordinary 2-valued logic) However, If it is not hot it does not mean it is cold, no! it could just be not so hot, mild, very mild, ... Clearly there is a difference between: hot, less hot, very less hot, ... There it is then: no fuss about fuzzy logic! |

Hi, I'm using Dev C++ 5.7.1. on a windows 7 Prof SP1 x64 and have linking errors when I'm trying to use even the simplest ODBC function. (Example bottom end) C:\Program Files (x86)\Dev-Cpp\MinGW64\x86_64-w64-mingw32\lib\libodbc32.a is existing and ODBC is working with the Pelles C implementation on my system too. For example with " #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN #define WIN32_DEFAULT_LIBS #include <windows.h> #include <sql.h> #include <sqlext.h> int main(int argc, char** argv) { static SQLHENV global_env_handle; SQLAllocHandle(SQL_HANDLE_ENV,SQL_NULL_HANDLE,&global_env_handle); return 0; } " I've got the error 10 N:\demo\main.cpp undefined reference to `SQLAllocHandle'. May this is related to http://bytes.com/topic/c/answers/160335-sqlext-h-odbc-link-time-error-dev-c-ide-mingw-compiler ?! Too bad all links there are dead. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Markus Klemm |

Don't you think you should be a bit more careful and make sure you differentiate between lowercase and uppercase letters? birthObj and birthobj are not the same thing. printinfo() and printInfo() are not the same thing... /Per W On Fri, 10 Jan 2014, Brandan Balasingham wrote: > Ok I called the objects but now it says that birthobj is undeclared and class people has no member named print info > Updated Program: > > Composition.cpp- > > #include <iostream> > #include "Birthday.h" > #include "People.h" > using namespace std; > > int main() > { > Birthday birthObj(11,21,1996); > People brandanBalasingham("Brandan", birthobj); > brandanBalasingham.printinfo(); > > } > > > birthday.h- > #ifndef BIRTHDAY_H > #define BIRTHDAY_H > > > class Birthday > { > public: > Birthday(int m, int d, int y); > void printDate(); > private: > int month; > int day; > int year; > }; > > #endif // BIRTHDAY_H > > > birthday.cpp- > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > Birthday::Birthday(int m, int d, int y) > { > month = m; > day = d; > year = y; > } > > void Birthday::printDate() > { > cout << month << "/" << day << "/" << year << endl; > } > > > people.h- > #ifndef PEOPLE_H > #define PEOPLE_H > #include <string> > #include "Birthday.h" > using namespace std; > > class People > { > public: > People(string x, Birthday bo); > void printInfo(); > protected: > private: > string name; > Birthday dateOfBirth; > }; > > #endif // PEOPLE_H > > > people.cpp- > #include "People.h" > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > People::People(string x, Birthday bo) > : name(x), dateOfBirth(bo) // name = x, dateOfBirth = bo > { > } > > void People::printInfo() > { > cout << name << " was born on "; > dateOfBirth.printDate(); > } > > > > On Thu, Jan 9, 2014 at 4:19 PM, Brandan Balasingham <bra...@gm...> wrote: > This is a pretty basic program and ive looked over it a bunch of times but for some reason the command prompt comes out completely blank. > > Composition.cpp > > #include <iostream> > #include "Birthday.h" > #include "People.h" > using namespace std; > > int main() > { > Birthday birthObj(11,21,1996); > > People brandanBalasingham("Brandan", birthObj); > } > > > birthday.h > > #ifndef BIRTHDAY_H > #define BIRTHDAY_H > > > class Birthday > { > public: > Birthday(int m, int d, int y); > void printDate(); > private: > int month; > int day; > int year; > }; > > #endif // BIRTHDAY_H > > > birthday.cpp > > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > > Birthday::Birthday(int m, int d, int y) > { > month = m; > day = d; > year = y; > } > > void Birthday::printDate() > { > cout << month << "/" << day << "/" << year << endl; > } > > > people.h > > #ifndef PEOPLE_H > #define PEOPLE_H > #include <string> > #include "Birthday.h" > using namespace std; > > class People > { > public: > People(string x, Birthday bo); > void printInfo(); > protected: > private: > string name; > Birthday dateOfBirth; > }; > > #endif // PEOPLE_H > > > People.cpp > > #include "People.h" > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > People::People(string x, Birthday bo) > : name(x), dateOfBirth(bo) > { > } > > void People::printInfo() > { > cout << name << " born on "; > dateOfBirth.printDate(); > } > > > > |

Ok I called the objects but now it says that birthobj is undeclared and class people has no member named print info Updated Program: Composition.cpp- #include <iostream> #include "Birthday.h" #include "People.h" using namespace std; int main() { Birthday birthObj(11,21,1996); People brandanBalasingham("Brandan", birthobj); brandanBalasingham.printinfo(); } birthday.h- #ifndef BIRTHDAY_H #define BIRTHDAY_H class Birthday { public: Birthday(int m, int d, int y); void printDate(); private: int month; int day; int year; }; #endif // BIRTHDAY_H birthday.cpp- #include "Birthday.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; Birthday::Birthday(int m, int d, int y) { month = m; day = d; year = y; } void Birthday::printDate() { cout << month << "/" << day << "/" << year << endl; } people.h- #ifndef PEOPLE_H #define PEOPLE_H #include <string> #include "Birthday.h" using namespace std; class People { public: People(string x, Birthday bo); void printInfo(); protected: private: string name; Birthday dateOfBirth; }; #endif // PEOPLE_H people.cpp- #include "People.h" #include "Birthday.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; People::People(string x, Birthday bo) : name(x), dateOfBirth(bo) // name = x, dateOfBirth = bo { } void People::printInfo() { cout << name << " was born on "; dateOfBirth.printDate(); } On Thu, Jan 9, 2014 at 4:19 PM, Brandan Balasingham <bra...@gm...>wrote: > This is a pretty basic program and ive looked over it a bunch of times but > for some reason the command prompt comes out completely blank. > > > Composition.cpp > > #include <iostream> > #include "Birthday.h" > #include "People.h" > using namespace std; > > int main() > { > Birthday birthObj(11,21,1996); > > People brandanBalasingham("Brandan", birthObj); > } > > > birthday.h > > #ifndef BIRTHDAY_H > #define BIRTHDAY_H > > > class Birthday > { > public: > Birthday(int m, int d, int y); > void printDate(); > private: > int month; > int day; > int year; > }; > > #endif // BIRTHDAY_H > > > birthday.cpp > > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > > Birthday::Birthday(int m, int d, int y) > { > month = m; > day = d; > year = y; > } > > void Birthday::printDate() > { > cout << month << "/" << day << "/" << year << endl; > } > > > people.h > > #ifndef PEOPLE_H > #define PEOPLE_H > #include <string> > #include "Birthday.h" > using namespace std; > > class People > { > public: > People(string x, Birthday bo); > void printInfo(); > protected: > private: > string name; > Birthday dateOfBirth; > }; > > #endif // PEOPLE_H > > > People.cpp > > #include "People.h" > #include "Birthday.h" > #include <iostream> > using namespace std; > > People::People(string x, Birthday bo) > : name(x), dateOfBirth(bo) > { > } > > void People::printInfo() > { > cout << name << " born on "; > dateOfBirth.printDate(); > } > |

You do realise that you have just defined the objects without calling either print metnod? This is a pretty basic program and ive looked over it a bunch of times but for some reason the command prompt comes out completely blank. Composition.cpp #include <iostream> #include "Birthday.h" #include "People.h" using namespace std; int main() { Birthday birthObj(11,21,1996); People brandanBalasingham("Brandan", birthObj); } birthday.h #ifndef BIRTHDAY_H #define BIRTHDAY_H class Birthday { public: Birthday(int m, int d, int y); void printDate(); private: int month; int day; int year; }; #endif // BIRTHDAY_H birthday.cpp #include "Birthday.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; Birthday::Birthday(int m, int d, int y) { month = m; day = d; year = y; } void Birthday::printDate() { cout << month << "/" << day << "/" << year << endl; } people.h #ifndef PEOPLE_H #define PEOPLE_H #include <string> #include "Birthday.h" using namespace std; class People { public: People(string x, Birthday bo); void printInfo(); protected: private: string name; Birthday dateOfBirth; }; #endif // PEOPLE_H People.cpp #include "People.h" #include "Birthday.h" #include <iostream> using namespace std; People::People(string x, Birthday bo) : name(x), dateOfBirth(bo) { } void People::printInfo() { cout << name << " born on "; dateOfBirth.printDate(); } |

You have to initialize the randomization with the following command. This you can do immediately after opening main(). srand(time(NULL)); there after each time you can take a seed from rand() command and equate it to an integer or long variable. The below link clears it beyond doubt. http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/cstdlib/rand/?kw=rand RegKRA From: rod...@ho... To: ba...@en...; dev...@li...
