Don't implement all code inline, it isn't a requirement as in Java. Normally, you put most of your code in a cpp file, while the class declaration and some small - very small normally - methods are inline in the header file. Class forwarding may only allow you to declare functions taking the class as parameter - not to actually access the forward-declared class. You may write: class class A; class classB { private: classA *pClassA; classA &rClassA; // Forbidden - don't know size of classA! classA classA; public: classB(classA *pClassA); classB(classA &rClassA); // Forbidden - don't know size of classA! classB(classA classA); void do_something(classA *pClassA) { // Forbidden - don't know interfaces of classA! pClassA->do_something; } } /Per W On Thu, 30 Jan 2003, Lu=EDs Br=E1s wrote: > I'm trying to compile this program in Dev-C++: > > ------------------------------------------------------ > > #include <iostream> > #include <stdlib.h> > > using namespace std; > > class classA; > > class classB > { > private: > int num_classB; > public: > classB(void) > { > num_classB =3D 0; > } > classB(int num) > { > num_classB =3D num; > } void user_classA(); > }; > > class classA > { > private: > int num_classA; > classB objA; > public: > classA(void) > { > num_classA =3D 0; > } > classA(int num) > { > num_classA =3D num; > } > void resultado(void) > { > cout << num_classA << endl;; > } > void set_resultado(int num) > { > num_classA =3D num; > } > }; void classB::user_classA() { classA objA; objA.set_resultado(10); objA.resultado(); } > > int main(int argc, char *argv[]) > { > > classB obj; > obj.usar_classA(); > > system("PAUSE"); > return 0; > } > > ------------------------------------------------------ > > any help? > > > > =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D > +=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+= =3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D > Lu=EDs Filipe Delgado Br=E1s > lf...@ya... > http://www.fotopt.net/autor.asp?autor=3D2637 > +=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+= =3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D+=3D > > __________________________________________________ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Hello, This error means you haven't declared any main() or WinMain() function in your program. This function is mandatory when creating an executable, because it is the entry point of your program. Hi all Still very new to Dev-C++ ! Does it matter how I set generation of debugging information?. It seems that the executables are the same size no matter what I do to that setting. I use version 4.9.7.4 Is this Dev-C++ specific or is it still a bug in gdb? btw, anyone have experience with that sort of bug, How long time will it take before the debugger works properly in Dev-C++. Just curios I am also very new to open source and the GNU stuff. Regards Lars-Bo |

Hello, Any of you used the cvs option already? At my place it does not work. It's very basic: I can't login. It asks for a password, I give the password, it asks again for the password, and then I get: Failed to supply password... Of course from the commandline everything works fine. Any suggestions? --- Jaap de Wolff Wo...@Ne... New Bridges B.V. Calandstraat 44 3316 EA Dordrecht Tel. 078 6548787 Fax 078 6548788 www.NewBridges.nl |

Hi! tim...@in... wrote: > As it stands, not even a "hello world" program will build unless you first > manually add the include/c++/mingw32 directory into the include search list. > I would call that a bug, although not a serious one. Well, I have MinGW installed separately, and it's /bin directory is added to my PATH environment variable, and everything works fine. Your problem happens, because the include files are not there, where gcc expects them to be. My separate MinGW install has the following dirs: /bin /include /lib /doc etc... So gcc looks for it's DEFAULT includes in /bin/../include/stdio.h etc. It is it's default include searching path, but in Dev-C++ the includes are separated, and gcc cannot find them, unless it is explicitly specified. This is why even a simple "hello world" program needs explicitly set includes. If this annoys you, I recommend you to download MinGW from http://www.mingw.org install it, and add it's /bin dir to your PATH. If you do this, you won't need to set ANYTHING at all, not even the exe paths, as they will be alway present. Another solution would be to attach a config file to the (Dev+MinGW together) release, where these includes are already set. (Although it wouldn't be needed for the Dev only release). This is my own guess. -- Greetings, Balázs |

I just started using the package, and I must say I'm pretty impressed so far. Very nice stuff in general. However I have one issue that may or may not be a real bug, depending on how you view it. When compiling any C++ program, you have to add the mingw directory to the include list manually. This is probably because dev-cpp tries to be compiler-agnostic, but since mingw is packaged in, it should be reasonable to expect that you could build a small program right "out of the box" so to speak. As it stands, not even a "hello world" program will build unless you first manually add the include/c++/mingw32 directory into the include search list. I would call that a bug, although not a serious one. Hi: Now I'm practising with bitmaps and drawing. Things are going well (very well) except for this problem: I call a function which creates a pattern brush, which bitmap is constructed on the fly based on the current selected color, it receives the HBITMAP and the HWND, the scrollbars position through a couple of int variables and the selected color. In the main source I choose the color with ChooseColor function like this (comments added in the mail): case ID_COLOR: { CHOOSECOLOR chc; ZeroMemory(&chc, sizeof(CHOOSECOLOR)); chc.lStructSize = sizeof(CHOOSECOLOR); chc.hwndOwner = hwnd; chc.rgbResult = rgbCol;//Current selected color, its a static variable chc.lpCustColors = rgbCust; chc.Flags = CC_RGBINIT | CC_FULLOPEN; if (ChooseColor(&chc)){ rgbCol = chc.rgbResult;//if success I change the current color and I change the current pen. logPen.lopnColor = rgbCol; } } break; Then when I want to scroll the image and when calling that function, used when lbuttondwon either during mousemove or mouse still, but no other functions with same arguments than this. I got the errors 1400 INVALID_WINDOW_HANDLE and 5 ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED. It's like the HWND to the window gets invalidated, since when this happens then the mouse does nothing in the window and it has to be closed with the task manager. Some times it only reports the error 5 the first time I try to use the brush function but then it works well again. I did some changes, adding more GetLastError calls: If I call the brush then I get the error 5 the first time and the brush is drawn, after hdc = GetDC(hwnd), and from that moment everything work again, if I try to scroll first the I get the error 1400 (I forgot say at the end of WM_XSCROLL I call a function for draw the image which receives the hwnd, hbm, scroll positions and which scroll changed.) and the window has to be closed through the task manager. I don't see any difference with the win32api reference in the color selection code, and I don't kno how it could affect the window handle. Am I missing something? The other question is how can I get the bits of the bitmap in a buffer?? I use GetDIBits but: If I alloc memory for the buffer GetDIBits returns with NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY error, if I increase the memory allocated I only achieve having this error with GlobalAlloc, if I don't alloc and say, 'perhaps it allocates itself the memory', it seems like it hasn't allocated memory and has not filled the buffer and when I try to access to the members I get an access violation (pvBits[n], pvBits is not a LPVOID, it is LPBYTE). I want it for knowing the n-th pixel is of this color. Where can I find examples of using Get/Set DIBits and CreateDIBSection?, what I find is using MFC, or source code with not enough explanations. So I can't see what I am doing wrong. Thanks |

What the heck do I have to do to get a program to compile in Dev-C++ 5? It compiles fine in dev-C++4. When I install DC++5 and then try compiling I get a bunch of errors. I found out that it is because there are not sufficient libraries in the include directory such as iostream. I transplanted my libraries from DC++4 and all the errors go away except for 3..it does not recognize std::cout, std::cin, or std::endl. Is there some thing I have to do to get the correct library files in my include directory so my programs will compile? Jeremy Petzold AIM: modmans2ndcoming |

I have downloaded and updated devcpp.exe. The old problem is gone but what happens now is that when i click start it runs and gets to skipping LangTurkish... then it says "No files available" Thanks for fixing the first problem but I'll be glad if you can help with this one also. I had the same problem. But its a bug in gdb, not in dev-C++ I already made a bug report to the GNU people which are responsible for gdb > -----Original Message----- > From: Lars-Bo Jacobsen [mailto:la...@fo...] > Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 04:05 PM > To: Dev-Cpp-Users (E-mail) > Subject: [Dev-C++] Does the debugger dev-C++ works? > > > Sorry all this might be a stupid, but I am new to Dev-C++ > > Does the debugger work in version 4.9.7.0? > > I do have yes on generate debugging information and debugging > do work with > this test program > > #include <iostream> > #include <stdlib.h> > > int main() > { > for (int i =1; i < 10; i++) > { > cout << "Value of i is " << i << endl; > } > system("PAUSE"); > return 0; > } > > When I add a breakpoint to the cout line and a watch on variable i the > debugger works fine I think. > > > But in my big project the debugger does not work, not even > when I introduce > the same for loop as in the test program in the start of my > main file. Sorry all this might be a stupid, but I am new to Dev-C++ Does the debugger work in version 4.9.7.0? I do have yes on generate debugging information and debugging do work with this test program #include <iostream> #include <stdlib.h> int main() { for (int i =1; i < 10; i++) { cout << "Value of i is " << i << endl; } system("PAUSE"); return 0; } When I add a breakpoint to the cout line and a watch on variable i the debugger works fine I think. But in my big project the debugger does not work, not even when I introduce the same for loop as in the test program in the start of my main file. I did remember to rebuild and I did check on generating the debugging information. btw, my program reads a file with data I pass that filename in the Execute|parameter box. Any ideas? Are there any documentation to the debugger or guides, howtos and so on? Lars-Bo |

Hi all Am I the only one who cannot download the fix from http://bloodshed.ygto.com/tmp/devcpp_fix.rar Download is very slow and finally stops. btw, I updated to version 4.9.7.4 from 4.9.7.0 with vUpdate and since that dev-C++ crashes every time I try to start it. Will the fix hel on that? Or should I go back to 4.9.7.0 and not use vUpdate? Sorry if some of this is stupid but I am a new to dev-C++ (and C++) Lars-Bo |

Hello, Sorry for this trouble. You can get a fix for version 4.9.7.4 at : http://bloodshed.ygto.com/tmp/devcpp_fix.rar (RAR archive)=20 or at : http://bloodshed.ygto.com/tmp/devcpp.exe.bz2 (bzip2 archive). Just uncompress the archive and place the new devcpp.exe in your Dev-C++=20 directory. Greetings, Colin Laplace On Wednesday 29 January 2003 07:58, you wrote: > Yeah, The same happened for me. Hello, I just used vupdate to upgrade to 4.9.7.4. After that vupdate will not work again. It displays this message when I try to run it "Your devcpp.cfg file is missing the $ROOT field in its [VUPDATE]section. I have checked the config file and the $ROOT field is there.
