There is simple implementation Dev-cpp\include\conio.c I don't know why this isin't are in library form. If you need more advance console support you may consider pdcurses library http://pdcurses.sourceforge.net/ Don't use system() because it takes huge system resources for the little thing. |

Most - MOST - unfortunately, these very useful functions are exclusive to= borland. You can use a function defined in stdlib.h - "system(char *)" - to perfor= m a similar function to clrscr(). Simply call it as such: system("cls"); Note: You are actually executing 'cls' with this. It's a command to launc= h other files. Oh, one more thing - only good can happen from _flushall() before every c= all to the system() function! - Shachar Gershoni |

Thanks to all those who provided valuable links. Knowing now that some keywords (such as "operator") are specific to C++, is there any way to "turn off" C++ keyword recognition while developing a C program in Dev-C++? TIA, AS |

Thanks in advance go to your c:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data and in devcpp.cfg delete line CLGDI DevPak=1.0 or something like that and the CLGDI devpak should reappear in the WebUpdate |

yeah, that new webupdate looks nice but has serious problems. if installing multiple items and one is beyond some size, it sometimes corrupts the downloads. worse yet, it registers them as installed whether they were successfully installed or not. fortunately, there's a workaround: edit the 'devcpp.cfg' file. on win2k/xp/nt, it's located in: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data under the [WEBUPDATE] section, remove the line: CLGDI DevPak=1.0 and the lines for any other bad downloads. then do webupdate again one file at a time. hth, alvin Paul Hester wrote: > Is there anyway to download 'CLGDI devpack' without going through > 'WebUpdate'? Hi Is anyone using graphapp with devc++? I'm having problems with certain examples & I'm wondering if my build of the library is OK, has anyone produced a devpack or a libgraphapp.dev (that works) which I can compare my build with. Do I need any other linker parameters other than -lgraphapp ? TIA Mark --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi Avi, Generally, as you have noticed, Dev-C++'s syntax highlighter helps you identify different aspects of your code. I think that most, if not all, the various keywords would be in the glossary mentioned. As and when you come across them, the syntax highlighting will indicate, if you do not already know. In that case, it should be a simple matter of checking that glossary, or some other more detailed reference, as to the actual meaning and syntax. You could do a search for such references, I personally do refer to cppreference.com, cplusplus.com and cprogramming.com from time to time. The 'operator' keyword is likely used in operator overloading. It should be fairly standard, so reasons why your compiler didnt recognise it could be that your compiler was non-standard, the syntax highlighting didnt include it, or simply that 'operator' wasnt defined as a keyword at the time, though I am not familiar with the history. Hi list ! I've got a little question and I hope that you can give a beginner (like = me) a helpin' hand :) It's about clrscr() and gotoxy(). I know that these are non-standard = functions but (as far as I know) useing the conio.h header, they should work. So my problem is, when I try to use clrscr() or gotoxy(), I always get = this error : " [Linker error] undefined reference to `gotoxy' " Yes, I #included conio :) Yes, everything else works. Yes, it's Dev-C++ 4.9.4.1 Yes, I know I am a beginner :-) Thanks ! Michel |

Shouldn't everything that is a keyword in C++ be highlighted by the compiler (and then in the IDE, Dev-C++)? So in other words a keyword is a keyword whatever compiler you are using, if it is a C++ keyword it must be treated as such by all compilers. Unless I am showing my ignorance? Or do you mean what keywords will be highlighted? >From: Avi Smith <sm...@ne...> >To: Daniel Glenfield <sp...@ho...>, >dev...@li... >Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] keywords >Date: Tue, 04 Nov 2003 15:45:01 +0200 > >Thanks for the link to the glossary! > >Perhaps I wasn't clear in my question. Here's one example: the word "operator" is interpreted by Dev-C++ as a keyword (it becomes bolded when I type it), so I can't use it as an identifier for a variable. Maybe it's compiler-specific; an compiler I = had a few years back didn't see it as a keyword. And what is the "operator" keyword for, anyway? Any sources? Thanks for the link to the glossary! Perhaps I wasn't clear in my question. While the glossary is certainly useful, it doesn't exactly provide what I'm looking for, which is a list and description of all C/C++ keywords and functions (e.g., "int", "do", "case", etc.) that are used in the DEV-C++ IDE. Here's one example: the word "operator" is interpreted by Dev-C++ as a keyword (it becomes bolded when I type it), so I can't use it as an identifier for a variable. Hi I'm new to Dev-C++. I was looking for a tools for my new project and Dev-C++ as IDE with gtkmm as GUI toolkit seems to be the best choice for me, but i have 2 problems. Most important problem is debugging. I can't gebug program with the internal debugger at all. Debugging seems to work perfectly fine until I add anything related to gtkmm to the source. If I try to run program with any breakpoint set, gdb immediately crashes and debugging stops. I tried to replace gdb shipped with Dev-C++ with newest gdb from mingw package but the result was the same. The gdb from insight devpack seems to work but I can't see the "blue line" indicating where the exectuion has stopped. Second problem is related to class browser. If I generate C++ files with glade-- (.cc and .hh) class browser displays class members as a global variables/functions. I found that after copying .hh files to .hpp (for f1 in `ls *.hh`; do f2=`dirname $f1`/`basename $fi .hh`.hpp; cp -fv $f1 $f2; done) class browser can "see" the classes but this workaround is very inconinient (no links on Windows platform) :-( Are those problems related to my system only (Win2K)? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance Tomek |

I am new to c++ and I just started to build a dll that can be used by = excel. To practice in the building of my dll I would want it to return = an array to excel, but I have tried hard without success. I can make the = dll return single values, but not arrays. I know that arrays have to be exported as SafeArrays but could not = implement this in Dev-Cpp. There are some examples with the Microsoft = compiler but when I try to compile them they failed.=20 In the Example below I got the error "[Linker error] undefined = reference to `SafeArrayCreate@12'" #include <windows.h> #include <oleauto.h> =20 #define DllExport __declspec(dllexport) __stdcall extern "C" { short DllExport NewArray(LPSAFEARRAY *ppsa) { LPSAFEARRAY psa; SAFEARRAYBOUND sa; sa.lLbound =3D 1; sa.cElements =3D 10; if (*ppsa =3D=3D NULL) //array not yet initialized { if ((psa =3D SafeArrayCreate(VT_I2, 1, &sa)) =3D=3D NULL) return -2; *ppsa =3D psa; } if ((*ppsa)->cDims !=3D 1) // check array dimensions return -1; else return -3; =20 return 0; } } Does anyone give me some advice in this topic? Thanks in advance Marcelo |

There is _makepath() or _wmakepath() available in stdlib.h, also available as _tmakepath() through tchar.h if you want unicode-support. However, why do you ask here. Didn't you try a grep in the include directory of the compiler? That is always the fastest method of locating which include file that contains a specific function. /Per W On Tue, 4 Nov 2003, Dondolo Mpho wrote: > Hi all > I am getting an error "makepath:undeclared identifier"....can somebody > please tell me what I am doing wrong.
