Ok, this is a recurring topic on this list. Conio is a nonstandard c library, which for some reason was included in earlier MinGW distributions. Newer Dev-C++s don't come with it anymore, ( or at least the non-standard version), so I compiled my own version from the older conio.c file. Anyways, if you have the version that has textcolor(), etc, then you include "conio.h" and add "-lconio" to your linker options. I have installed cygwin in a Win98 machine, as well as Dev-C++ a the Development Interface. What I am trying to do is to port some UNIX programs to Win9x and, if successful, I will, latter on, try on the other Windowses. You see, I don't know the Win98 world that well. I am a UNIX citizen; I have been since 1996. I lived on SCO for a while, then AIX and SUN at work, but lately, like most UNIXENS, I have been living in the LINUX world, where the grass is still green and there is lots of real-estate. I was happy living in the DOS / Win3.x world, but we were evicted by the landlord [Microsoft], there were other landlords [OS/2, WARP, DRDOS,etc], but I felt like their worlds were a bit too small for my taste. So I moved to the UNIX world, and what a place that it! Having a well developed UNIXEN attitude, I would like to share with the rest; even if they are not UNIXENS. Well, I have found that MinGW and CygWin are some sort of wormholes that have allowed me to again visit that distant universe called Microsoft. Anyway, after installing and then deleting [not unstalling] Dev-C++ to again reinstall it, I am unable to compile using Dev-C++, I had to go manually at the prompt. Where can I get a list of setting I must have in Dev-C++ for it to work properly? EXACTLY what I had in mind :D Great, it seems we have the same thoughts about this one. Though I still have one more question: You wrote, that the Project consists of two things: a Project file and a BuildSystem* (I suppose the latter is a reference). Is the BuildSystem* outside of the Project file? -- Greetings, Balázs |

It extracts the files in the package to the folders it says, but does nothing more, if you want to add the help files it may have to the menu, you'll have to do it yourself. That's the way it works, Package manager is a gzip extractor which knows where to extract the files. It can add some items to the start menu. Greetings. |

Who do you need to recompile environment, just to use it for an embedded system? I assume you are not planning on running the IDE on the embedded system - just use it to create applications for the embedded systems. Just write a stub program that gets called instead of the MinGW compiler, and that calls the embedded compiler with suitably renamed parameters. /Per W On 5 Nov 2003, wugang wrote: > Hi, all friends! > > I'm a freshman here. Hi, all friends! I'm a freshman here. I want to do some work on dev-cpp, that is, to try to make it an IDE for embedded system. First of all, I must be able to build dev-cpp from source. So I tried to get a dev-src_Jul_30_23h03.tar.gz, extracted it to get the source code, and then built. But it failed. Delphi told me that these files are needed: Libc.dcn, SynEdit.dcu and SynEditKeyCmds.dcu. Well, I think the solutions for these 3 .dcu are different. Now I tell my opnion: 1. Libc.dcu. Since no Libc.* file in dev-src_Jul_30_23h03.tar.gz, I must tried to find it somewhere else; 2. SynEdit.dcu and SynEditKeyCmds.dcu. In dev-src_Jul_30_23h03.tar.gz there is a "synedit" directory. I think these 2 .dcu files must be built from this directory. But know how? Because in synedit directory, no .dpr found. Also, all files in this directory are writen 2 years ago. So they must work with some old delphi version. While my delphi is version 6.0. I'm waiting for any help from you. Please tell me how to get these .dcu files. Or, if such quesition is not suitable in this mail list, woule you please recommend some other mail list? Thanks. What exactly does the package manager do? Is there documentation on this = utility? =20 If I use it to install a package, for example OpenGL. Does it just = extract files? register files? integrate them with the application? In = my case it appears that it just extracts the files. While I guess this = is alright it would make sense that it would add the help files to the = help menu and add an executable utilities to the tools menu. Hi all, I just created a very simple DLL with one function in it. When I try to load it (with regsvr32), I got the message "<paht_to_the_dll> was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found". Should I add something in my code to add a DllRegisterServer entry point ? Thank you for your any information about this problem. Best regards. |

Imho WebUpdate feature should be redesigned. It does not store devpaks on hdd after installation. It downloads packages to %temp% folder and after invoking PakMan it simply deletes them. I think DevPaks sould be downloaded to %dev-cpp-dir%/DevPaks and not deleted after install for later use. Hi, You could check Tools -> Editor Options There is a "Use Syntax Highlighting" part. You could turn off syntax highlighting, or cause it to affect only the files of the listed extensions. I havent written C programs in this IDE, so I'm not too sure, but I doubt you can specifically turn off certain elements, at least not from the interface provided.
