The Package Manager has no ability to add packages, only to remove them. Once again, how do I add a DevPak to dev-cpp ? Double-clicking doesn't do it so there must be a way. |

No, I am not using 4.9.X. I downloaded the 4.0 version since all other versions say Beta. I assumed that the DevPak distributions work with this last non-Beta version. Shouldn't the website at least explain that any packages in DevPak format do not work with version 4.0 ? If that is the case, how do users of version 4.0 actually install packages ? |

Well although 4.9.8.0 is still beta, I would really recommend it over version 4.0, which is very old now. You are right with the fact that there is not a lot of info on packages (how do they work and on which version of Dev-C++, etc...) but that should be corrected with the new Dev-C++ site coming up soon Greetings, Colin > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including > Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now. > Download today and enter to win an XBOX or Visual Studio .NET. > http://aspnet.click-url.com/go/psa00100006ave/direct;at.asp_061203_01/01 > _______________________________________________ > Dev-cpp-users mailing list > Dev...@li... > TO UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.noicys.cjb.net/devcpp/ub.htm > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dev-cpp-users |

As said by Westernak and Colin Laplace, the version 4.9.8.0 is far better than 4.0, it's worth the download. |

I would say that users of version 4.0 hardly exists. There is too large a difference between the two versions for someone to seriously consider using the 4.0 version - at least after a compare between the two. /Per W On Mon, 30 Jun 2003, Edward Diener wrote: > > Message: 10 > > From: Colin Laplace <ha...@bl...> > > Reply-To: ha...@bl... > > To: dev...@li... > > Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] DevPak > > Date: Tue, 1 Jul 2003 00:42:35 +0200 > > > > Hello, > > > >> The Package Manager has no ability to add packages, only to remove > >> them. > >> Once again, how do I add a DevPak to dev-cpp ? OK, I have downloaded 4.9.8.0 and updated to 4.9.8.1. Everything looks good except for one nit i noticed, Packman and VUpdate don't seem to be in sync. I successfully added the ImageLib and WxWindows packages using Packman but VUpdate still shows them as available when I ask it to look for packages. I would assume that if Packman has installed these packages that VUpdate shouldn't be showing them. Since I am a newbie, a few more questions and/or initial comments. It would be nice if, after installing a package, that package's help were somehow added into the Dev-C++ help system. Which reminds me: how do I find help about the packages I have installed ? The current Dev-C++ help is sparse at best ( some Under Construction topics which I can forgive because it is Beta ) and I have installed various packages. Where does the help for using those packages exist ? I am particularly interested in figuring out how to use WxWindows and not seeming to have any help for it as part of the DevPak is not amusing. |

They're not sync. Pakage manager is part of Dev by dev team, vUpdate is done by a helper. (N.B.:He left the project some weeks ago, so dev's developers announced they'll substitue vUpdate and maintain its functionality) |

Hello, > The Package Manager has no ability to add packages, only to remove them. > Once again, how do I add a DevPak to dev-cpp ? Double-clicking doesn't do > it so there must be a way. It seems you are not using a recent 4.9.X version, so your package manager doesn't recognize the new DevPaks.
