Didn't Bruce say a day or two ago that variables declared using 'my' in
column 1 only get defined once, at MH startup.

don't you mean:
set $basement_table $state if($state == $v_basement_table);
you're always going to get a true there if you're assigning $state, which I
don't think is what you were meaning to do. (I didn't bother really looking
at your code, but that appeared slightly off to me)

Well as it turns out this was my fault. Here is what I typed:
$v_basement_table = new Voice_Cmd 'Basement table [on,off]';
$v_basement_table-> set_info('Basement table lamp');
$v_basement_table-> tie_event('speak "Ok, the basement table lamp was
turned $state"');
set $basement_table $state = $v_basement_table;
Should have been:
$v_basement_table = new Voice_Cmd 'Basement table [on,off]';
$v_basement_table-> set_info('Basement table lamp');
$v_basement_table-> tie_event('speak "Ok, the basement table lamp was
turned $state"');
set $basement_table $state if $state = $v_basement_table;
Sorry for the intrusion!

We were having some issues before with denial of services attacks from some script kiddie a couple of weeks ago, I think most of that has cleared up by now though. I am running mh2.3.2 and the time_less_than and time_greater_than
functions don't seem to be working. The code I am using is:
my $dark_flag = ( (time_less_than($Time_Sunrise)) ||
(time_greater_than($Time_Sunset)) );
if ($dark_flag) {
...
}
The flag seems to get set correctly when I run mh but it won't change as
time changes. I added an if $New_Minute to monitor the flag over time and
it didn't change at sunset or sunrise. If I restart MH, the flag is
correctly set for the time of the restart.
Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks, Bruce. When I had the problems (last week), it was 100% consistent -- a download would start, and then hang. I finally got it from a completely different location (but same ISP...verio). I did notice the file wasn't on misterhouse.net. I didn't realize there was an ftp server for those files! I just poked around and the file here: ftp://download.sourceforge.net/mounts/u3/sourceforge/misterhouse/misterhouse _win_234.zip Bill, for the record, this is the download you are having problems with right? http://download.sourceforge.net/misterhouse/misterhouse_win_234.zip And it is still a problem today? If neither of the above work, you can try my site (slow, but should be faster than 3 hours for 11k!): http://misterhouse.net/public/misterhouse_win_234.zip The above file was not copied there like it should have been, but it is there now :) I'll include these backup download locations on the download page. (Closed Captioned, Live, In Stereo, Network-CBS) Spaces in favorite_tv_shows search keys should be fine. I tried a few searches here and found the same problem you did: for shows that are continued from a previous html page, the '<cont' image messed things up. I just fixed that with this update: http://misterhouse.net/mh/bin/get_tv_grid To refresh your database, run: get_tv_grid -redo -hour all -days 7 Bruce |

Good mornign everyone. I am having one of those night where I can't sleep. I am goofing around with MR house and I don't know if I found a bug or not. The only interface that I have defined is the CM11a on /dev/ttyS0 (linux of course). At first I only had X10A s defined ( I assume this means appliance on/off) and everything was happy. However this evening I went to add lights using the X10I and now I get the following error message Error, serial set called, but no serial port found: data=Voice_Cmd=HASH(0x8ea7cbc) So I still only have one interface defined and I want both appliances and regular x10 items to use the CM11 is there something special that I need to do? Just for the record, I was able to duplicate this. The src downloaded in a few seconds on my cable modem, but the binary stalled quickly at 11K (not per second, but total amount downloaded!). I have been trying for weeks to download the latest version of the compiled mh from sourceforge. I have been totally unsuccessful. I do this currently and user redir. You can get it from redhat or just go to rpmfind.net and look for it there. If you need help using it just let me know. It might be overkill for what you want, but try looking at LVS (Linux
Virtual Server) which I beleive does port forwarding.
Do a search on Freshmeat for LVS and you'll find 2 programs for doing port
forwarding.
There might be an easier way, like I said, those 2 packages might be
overkill.

Hello, I haven't totally gotten my mh system fired up yet and here is why. I have a linux box that servers as my gate/ip-masq/web-server right now it isalso functionin as my HA system using heyu and xtend. I have written some php/mysql code to control adn report the status of devices. Also here I have several Lava lamps that anyone can control and view the result on my webcam (http://couch.dhs.org/~tprinty/spycam.html). What I need to to is forward port 1080 on gateway to the firewalled system that will be running mh. Is this ealy done using ipchains? I would still like the web cam and associated pages to be house on my firewall server.wb. Right now the lava light control is just a perl script that does a system call to heyu. I know there is a socket connection that I can make to mr house but I was not able to find it in the examples. So in other words how would I translate a "heyu turn a1 on" into a socket call that mh would understand? I like what I am seeing so far. I love the VR stuff and the ability to make it talk. I wanted to know how other are getting the voice inot other rooms. I was thinking about getting some wireless speakers and using along with lamp modules to turn on the different speech zones. I may be moving soon so this should keep me resonable mobile. Any hints? Hi, One way around having to write the code could be to install an Axis remote printer driver on the win box. http://www.axis.com/techsup/software/index.htm ("Print monitor", or "Print System") The driver component can be setup to use raw tcp printing. That way it looks like a standard serial port to the windows apps, and connects to a ip/port on another host to transparently send and receive data. /Jonas -----Original Message----- From: Roger Bille [mailto:rog...@te...] Sent: den 26 november 2000 21:32 To: MisterHouse Mailing List Subject: Re: [misterhouse-users] Remote serial port I agree, thanks Roger ----- Original Message ----- From: Bruce Winter <br...@mi...> To: <mis...@li...> Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2000 5:57 PM Subject: RE: [misterhouse-users] Remote serial port > > I actually have an old 486 that I could use as a mh serial > > server.
