Hello, as I said in my mail before, I use redhat 6.2. I don't know about the httpq and winamp player under linux. Is there a source? It doesn't look like it comes with 6.2. Therefore, if nobody didn't already write a script for mpg123, I might try to do that... Does anyone have a script for a linux player? Uwe |

Hello everybody, please excuse if the topic was chewed on this list a thousand times already (I did look a little in the archives first...), but I'm a newbie (to Linux as well as to mh). I got quite some of the stuff working, but not all the stuff I want. First thing (next thing in next mail) I cannot get the VR working for the life of me. I don't even know whether I have the VR stuff installed properly, and the docs (at least from mh side) seems to be rather scarce. Bruce, is there a section I missed which talks a little more about vr under linux? The doc only says that you need more notes on that... ;-( Also, how do I implement the viavoice-control.pl script? Questions, questions... I attached two files: a tee'd log file of the viavoice_server_start script, and a recent log file. If anybody could help, that would be greatly appreciated. (I hope this list accepts attachments...) Is there any other way how I can test vr, independent from mh? Thanks so much, Uwe |

Hi, is there a way to keep the web page on http://localhost:8080 to not refresh every few minutes. The data doesn't seem to change on each refresh (such as the global variables for $second, etc don't reflect a new value). forgive me if I am completely wrong about the refresh, as I can only read this through my screen reading software and it gives me the impression the page is refreshing. The screen reading program will start at the top and read all over again if the page is refreshed. |

That would be pretty nice if MH would talk to that server, since it also posts to http://198.3.123.122/WeatherStation/WeatherApplet.html (look for Hillsborough, NJ there). I would still like MH to talk to ibuttons, though, since I just saw the neat ibutton Dot Locks at www.weblocksmith.com and I'm sure to add all sorts of Thermochrons. Gotta get that java ring... http://www.shokk.com ICQ-17933910 Ernie "Shokk" Oporto > -----Original Message----- > From: mis...@li... > [mailto:mis...@li...]On Behalf Of Bruce > Winter > Sent: Saturday, November 04, 2000 1:23 PM > To: mis...@li... > Subject: RE: [misterhouse-users] perl module errors in ibutton_ws.pl > > > > > When using ibutton_ws.pl, I get these errors... > > > > - creating serial3 object on port COM3 > > > > ARGH, a Bug! Actually, that line has always been in my MH logs. I just ignore it now, but when I first joined the list and was playing with the callog.pl stuff I posted about it and you replied with the same. =) I don't think it actually had much to do with my ibutton problem. Mostly, the ibutton_ws.pl was causing a mess of error message dialogs to keep popping up (same ones over and over), so I disabled it for now. I could at least have MH connect to the ibutton bus and list the few ibuttons that were active at the time (unless one of the reed switches closes due to wind activity they don't show). It's just that the messages showing over and over were *really* annoying. =) http://www.shokk.com ICQ-17933910 Ernie "Shokk" Oporto > -----Original Message----- > From: mis...@li... > [mailto:mis...@li...]On Behalf Of > Bbi...@ao... > Sent: Saturday, November 04, 2000 10:27 PM > To: mis...@li... > Subject: Re: [misterhouse-users] perl module errors in ibutton_ws.pl > > > Hi Ernie, > > > - creating serial3 object on port COM3 > > > ARGH, a Bug! Hi Ernie, > - creating serial3 object on port COM3 > ARGH, a Bug! The $CommProperties buffer must be at > least 538976348 bytes. > - creating cm11 object on port COM1 > - creating cm17 object on port COM2 Every example like this I have encountered has been an IRQ or driver mismatch. According to the $MS documentation, the $CommProperties buffer must be "long enough" (no maximum specified, of course) to handle whatever is returned - typically 150-200 bytes. I allow 300 and put in the error to catch anyone who need a few more so I could bump up the limit easily in a later release. The number reported is included in the error data when the system call reports a buffer overflow. It may be nonsense - but that is what Windows says it needs :-) I guess I could examine the result and change the text to reflect that it is a $MS bug rather than mine - but in fact it is pretty rare and always has been a setup problem of some sort. -bill |

I've been running one since July and am quite happy. I wrote an mh driver for it, but I haven't fully tested it in that mode. I run it outside mh right now. If you go to my webpage, you can see my latest history plots : http://www.oplnk.net/~ajackson/weather/yesterday.html In a few more days I'll add 30 and 90 day histories. And when I get ADSL, I'll go realtime - but that's down the road. I've documented the protocol & all that, so since you're not afraid of slinging a little perl, it should be no problem. Sometime in the next month or so I plan to put a lot of the code into CPAN. This is all in Linux, BTW. Let me amend this slightly. You want this if (time_now $Time_Sunset_twilight) time_now is a function that will return true only when the current time equals the specified time. Bruce |

You want to drop the ` around $Time..., like this:
if ($Time_Now = time_now $Time_Sunset_twilight)
Or you can use " instead of ', which would allow variables withing the
string to be seen.

Hi James (I've copied the list incase others had the same question),
James asked how I'm interfacing VWS and MH:
VWS has the option to generate an output file with it's current readings, I
enabled that and have it write to a file (I call it weather.dat, name
doesn't matter) every 5 minutes to the machine MH is running on (via the
lan).
In Misterhouse I set the following in my mh.private.ini file
#
# Used for remote weather collection (data arrives via mhsend)
#
weather_vwlog_file=c:\weather.dat
>From there your good to go, I create objects in my .mht file that use
weather information and use them as triggers (and conditions) on other
objects:

An example of how I'm using these objects is from my fountain, which when
the winds blow water gets blown out if it's on:
$Fountain->set('off') if $Outside_Courtyard_Fountain->state eq 'on' and
$Gusty->state() eq '1';
Let me know if you'd like some more examples.
Best,
Bill

Subject: [misterhouse-users] warnings in log
Hi,
I am now getting this warning
11/04/00 06:44:00 PM: Warning, bad time record:
time=$Time_Sunset_twilight time_date=
all because I am using this piece of code
if ($Time_Now = time_now '$Time_Sunset_twilight')
{
set $Livingroom_Lights ON;
$Daytime_Flag = 0;
}
I even get the same message if I change $Time_Sunset_twilight to
$sunset_Twilight
any ideas why?
