What would be the cleanest way to add states
to generic_items such as mode_sleeping?

 From the svn logs, I see the following:

Stealing this thread temporarily since it has your email address on it: I need a 24volt AC power supply/source to bench test the TU16 thermostat from RCS and I wanted to know where I can get such a source/supply?  Can you get this at RadioShack?

Did you ever get the ZWave version (mine is UPB) of this thermostat? There is a page that tells you how to bench test it before installing to make sure the display and control board talk to each other properly.  I hooked mine up the other night and ran in to some issues and TechSupport suggested I do the bench testing first.

Your week of opportunity starting before leaving town; does that mean you will be back in Charlotte?

Unfortunately, it seems that it's a "false positive".  I had a 
Light_Restriction_Item that I had forgotten about that was masking the 
effects of the Motion_Item.  So, back to trying to reproduce your issue.

I don't know when it happened (I caught this after upgrading to the svn
trunk) but there is a mismatch of commands for controlling the mp3 player in
the IA5 web and mp3_winamp.pl
 
The IA5 controls is RUN?Set_the_house_mp3_player_to_  
but the mp3_winamp.pl command is Set house mp3 player to 
 
Changing mp3_winamp.pl line 75 to read: Set the house mp3 player to  will
allow the commands to work from the IA5 web pages.

For ease of implementation, I'll likely just have an available voice 
command that will cause the info to be output to the log.  What I have 
been successful doing is iterating over items of type X10_Sensor (X10MS 
in items.mht) and displaying the idle_time that is maintained by all 
items. What is interesting is that X10_Sensor items of type "motion" or 
"brightness" maintain the idle_time correctly; whereas items of type 
"ms13" seem to get reset such that idle defaults to the last reload time 
unless the device actually sends a signal since reload.  So, the 
implication is that the data displayed for "ms13" type items can be 
flawed.  Note that you can apply the ms13 type to non-ms13 devices--it's 
just a convenient way of merging the states of motion and brightness 
into a single item.  Of course, if you separate out these into two 
distinct items corresponding to motion or brightness (of course you 
could omit either), then you would have no problem.  I'll next work on 
getting to sort properly--assuming you want most recent reports first.

signal is seen and it's associated item?
This would hopefully make it easier to track down a module that suddenly 
stops sending a signal..either due to a dead battery or a failed module.

an environment different than yours.

When downloading misterhouse_src_2104.zip, I discovered it came with
mhe.exe and upon running it created a weird c:\windows\temp\PAR-System
dir, ran from that temp directory, created an applog referencing
Msvcrt.dll and is crashing. :(


So my questions are:

Is the src supposed to contain mhe.exe?

Is mhe.exe suppose to be creating weird temp directories? and is it
suppose to run a new mhe.exe from them?

Does mhe.exe use msvcrt.dll?

I found what you were asking in the state logs.

I walk in to the bath room and the $Ground_Bath_Motion has a state of 'motion' set_by =$X10_Ground_Bath_Motion. However, the corresponding Light_Item Ground_Bath_Lights state doesn't change

That sounds like at least half your problem as 2-way is only for
receiving status and/or manual tap events from the light.  All lights
should respond from the "set $X10_Ground_Bath_Lights" style approach
which is considered "1-way".  If they don't, then you either have a
fundamental problem w/ mh (which could be as simple as the wrong
house/unit code) or the device.

Ok, that web... I never have used the ia5 interface--I am stuck in the yester year with the mh4 interface.

The "set ..." was via the external cmd interface "house".  It just comes back and tells me that the command wasn't found.

I have an old voice_cmd that is referencing $Ground_Bath_lights (that was the name of my physical x10 device before I started tinkering with the Light_item objects) and when I set the Light_Item directly, it turns on the light.

I'll go see if I can get to the logs you mentioned.

what do the state logs show for both Ground_Bath_Lights and
Ground_Bath_Motion ?

If you manually set X10_Ground_Bath_Lights, do you see it propagate to
the Ground_Bath_Lights state log?
