Yes, I noticed this a long time ago, should probably try and fix it
I've just noticed that when viewing the EPG on my iPhone , the horizontal Channel List near the top can become dethatched from the vertical program lists. It seems to be dependent on the zoom level. Not a major problem.
Thanks: Ill try as you suggest as soon as I can; it will be next week sometime. The final release of Java 32bit was v8, so I'm on the lookout for JDK 8 for Windows.
It should work fine with Java 25, but not 64bit, v1 needs a 32 bit java. I suspect v25 of 32bit will work, but you could install an older one. They canbe both on the system, but it might be less work to uninstall 64bit and then install 32bit. i would backup all settings, then uninstall. That way there will be no clash and you can get back to where you were very quickly. So: 1. Backup all settings from within TVSP. 2. Uninstall TVSP 298 3. Uninstall Java 25 64bit 4. Install Java 32bit (any version)....
Two questions... Can i use the version of Java I have now or do i need to load an old version? I currently have JDK v25 Do i need to uninstall the currect TVSP first?
I will look into the edge browser, i thought i checked and it was ok (but could be mistaken), my ipad did display the error message though so something browser specific is happening . I had my setup on localhost only and never tried adding/removing tasks from a different machine, only on the same machine as tvsp was running in so never saw the issue.
Try TVSP v1 with this tuner to confirm. (Just backup all your settings first so you can revert to 298 easily after). Also can you post what tuner this one is and also some info from windows device manager, i.e. what driver is installed, what devices show, etc? Finally can you reverse the order of the Tuners in TVSP and try another dual capture and post the logs?
Here's a screenshot of my devices page. Second tuner not in use, to my knowledge, by any other application. The weird thing is I have a Win 7 64bit machine running TVSP 297 with a different TV USB (Blackgold Dual) stick and it does exactly the same thing??? I have yet another Win 7 64bit Machine running TVSP V1.0.0.0 with a Blackgold dual tuner and it works perfectly. That's why I suspected a bug.
Here's a screenshot of my devices page. Second tuner not in use, to my knowledge, by any other application.
Here's a screenshot of my devices page.
TVSP is not seeing the second tuner as free. It is not used by something else like a tv viewer, or some other scheduler is it? Also can you post your devices page with show id's ?
OK - The vital line in the log appears to be, "Producer start failed with code -3" If I knew what this meant I might make a bit more progress. Shortly after this Device 0 became free as its recording finished.
Thanks John - that's good to know. I've eliminated two possible causes... --- NOT twin tuners. --- NOT drivers, which I find surprising but true!! I'll be back with more information when I get the time to play.
I run a Hauppauge quad tuner (4 tuners in one card) and everything works seamlessly. My guess is drivers, but feel free to post capture logs (and all the other logs) when it fails.
me too, 2 of them ;)
Hi Dencorub, thanks for the suggestions and apologies for taking this long to respond. First thing I noticed was that the default operation for auto-add schedules was to only use the standard End Buffer Time, and not apply the End Buffer EPG Addition. This seems an odd behaviour, especially for long-running shows like live sports. Can this be changed? This could be changed. The thinking here was that Auto-Adds can be edited anyway. But I can see some merit in adding the extension on the first creation...

OK, edge did not work, neither did safari. The warning message was just plain text and these browsers do not allow that anymore. Now fixed in 299 (not released yet).

John: I have a problem with TV Tuners that I havent yet bottomed out. It could be TVSP, it could be the drivers or it could just be old tuners. It could be certain channels. At the present I feel it's confined to twin tuners of any make. If TVSP has one of a twin pair in use and feels the need to start another tuner, it fails to start capture on the second tuner of the pair. It is just the same if I swap the tuners round in the TVSP list so that the one that failed to start previously becomes the...
John - That's great thanks. I can now add, edit and delete tasks from any machine on my subnet. HOWEVER: Will your final fix in 299 also correct the problem with the error response when using an MS Edge Browser? AND: How come I had problems and you didn't?

Ok, there was sort of a bug in there - been there forever as well. You are good at finding them Mark. For now you can go to General Options and change the Limit high security settings to "No Limit" and you should find that you can edit tasks, remove etc again. I have changed the auth code in 299 so this setting will also apply to tasks (it wasn't under certain circumstances) so if you set to localhost or authenticated then the tasks can be edited remotely as ling as there is a trusted IP or a user...
I was going to suggest the same, should work.
As a work-round if I edit the "tasks.xml" file to run my exe; should this work Or does this just confuse things even more!!!
You might have uncovered another bug as im seeing this issue from my ipad. I'll take a look when i can, it seems to work fine in the same machine but not from a remote one.
I've just re-read this and I've found that moving the "Tasks.xml" file out of its location onto the desktop makes no difference ... until the machine is restarted. There are then no tasks in the task list. However, if I now add a new task I still cannot delete or edit it even though my subnet is on the trusted IP list "trusted=192.168.1."
I've now added my subnet to the trusted list. trusted=192.168.1. This makes no difference. Edge say Invalid Response. Firefox gives security warning. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry John, but this raises two questions; 1) If I use Firefox on the machine running TVSP I get the security warning. 2) If I use MS "Edge" on the machine running TVSP, I get a response that says that Edge received an unrecognised response (Not the security message)
I just read your update. Yes this is a security feature, tasks cannot be deleted from a remote machine. You need to open a browser on the machine TVSP is installed on and do it from there. Your other option is to edit "C:\ProgramData\TV Scheduler Pro\prop\authentication.prop" and add either a user/password or a trusted IP. The instructions are in the file.
Tasks should not be put in the Programdata folder. This is just where TVSP saves the information for the task you add. A task is either an existing program on your computer or a script you write yourself. It cannot be an interactive program because it will be run by the system account. (A caveat for the professionals is that you can change TVSP service to run as a user account and then you can launch interactive programs, but a default install is system non interactive.) A simple example is as follows....

John. For what it's worth I'm coming from V1.0.0.0 !! Thanks - It makes sense. I didn't really understand the "Default" pattern but your explanation has made this clear. I've been using "TV Scheduler Pro" from its beginning and still run V1.0.0.0 on one XP machine. Back then there was no "Default" so it's something that's been introduced while I've not been watching! Many thanks for your patience with an old-timer.
It is also possible that you were so many releases behind they did not upgrade properly? I can't be sure as hard to test now but for you to check: copy the tasks xml file out or rename it. It by default should be here: "C:\ProgramData\TV Scheduler Pro\xml\Tasks.xml" Then try adding a new task and see if this works ok, if so then reconstruct them.
I did make it much smaller when I fixed it, could go less again, I think it depends on your screen size and how many channels a bit.
I have no trouble with adding/editing etc. The tasks can be anywhere as long as they are runnable and can be found. So they need to be either on the path or the full path needs to be specified (usually safer this way). Perhaps let me know some more info, i.e. is this 298 that does not work? Which version did work etc.

No, the hotfix is for 298. It will be incorporated into 299.
The hotfix you provided for EPG Match List Edit has not been carried forward into JC-298. The same fix works OK.
Hi John. At last I've loaded V 298 and I can see you have fixed the ignore flag. It's quite a big flag on my Edge browser (bigger than the EPG column) and I think it would be better much smaller or scaled to the column. Nevertheless it's fixed and functions ok thanks.
There's something not right with "Tasks" in this release. They can't be deleted - I get an "ERR_INVALID_HTTP_RESPONSE". They can't be edited - as above. They can't be disabled - as above. When they are run they don't appear to be running even though TVSP says they are. In which directory does an "exe" file need to be to be run by a TVSP task or does it always need an explicit address e.g. C:\<dierectory>\<directory>\whatever.exe ?</directory></dierectory>

No change to the capture code in this version so i suspect it is a coincidence. 11 captures for me so far on 298 with no issues. *could have been windows busy indexing ir something due to your recent changes , but who knows .

Hello. I don't recall seeing this message before, things usually go very well. "Consumer has fallen behind the producer, Data Lost!". I did a test capture and forgot about it until just now when I saw the yellow exclamation mark under Schedules. pc: 3900X, 32Gb ram, capture disk WD black, win11 Pro 25H2 with latest updates. I'll try a few more now. edit: I added 3 concurrent recordings and they all completed without the yellow triangle exclamation mark, so they worked OK. Beats me, then. Cheers.

No problem, suspect it was when you closed the tray icon. No need to stop the service or tray icon for an update.
ok. I ran tray.exe manually and then right clicked on it to close it and it asked if i wanted to stop running at login (or something like that) and I said no. Now it appears after a reboot and login. To clarify, I 1. stopped the service and the tray icon 2. extracted the standalone JRE into the right folder (first removing the old JRE) 3. ran the installer as a non-Admin user - and it asked for Admin credentials which I gave it Normally I login as a non-Admin user which is when the tray icon did...

Just run it from C:\TV Scheduler Pro, go to C:\TV Scheduler Pro\win and double click on tray.exe. Also make sure it is not hidden, check the white up arrow in the tray for more icons.

Help ! I just installed the JRE into the subfolder (like I always do) and then v298 and then the hotfix ... and my tray icon has disappeared, even after a reboot. Please, how do I get it back ? PS I install into C:\TV Scheduler Pro
If I understand correctly this is essentially by design. Difficult to explain but whatever pattern is saved into an auto-add item is persistent and won't change with the global setting. This might be what you want or not, so to provide full flexibility in 296 the 'default' option was added. From the help page: *You can also add the word 'default' as a pseudo pattern. Any schedule that has the filename pattern set as 'default' will substitute the current first real pattern in the pattern list each...

perhaps here ?https://sourceforge.net/projects/tvschedulerpro/files/TVSP%20Java%20Runtime/25.0.1/ or, a bigger official version (.zip for portable, and .msi installer) ? https://adoptium.net/en-GB/temurin/releases?os=windows&arch=x64&package=jre (you need to click on the "JRE" button) I use the official portable version into the right tvsp subfolder and be done with it. It'd be interesting to know of the consequences of doing so with the larger version. cheers.

Sorry - but where is the, "Slim TVSP only JRE for 25"
John - This is still V297 and is really tricky to explain and may be another "Forever" quirk. I'm also not sure of the exact nature of this one as I've only just discovered it. Best effort below and I'll update you if I get a better understanding of what's going on. This is a really complicated area of TVSP and it may be me that doesn't fully understand it. PROCEDURE... System - Files & Paths - Capture Paths and Names - File name patterns. You can't edit patterns, so add a new pattern and move it...
No problem, if you find any more bugs let me know here so i can fix them in the next update

That's easy - I didn't update to 298.
No problem, if you find any mire bugs let me know here so i can roll intl next update
If you are really looking for trouble here's a "Forever" quirk that is really irritating and not easily work-roundable. If the EPG xml file has the characters &#x (Which is the preamble to the two HEX digits that follow representing an ASCII character) then the TVSP EPG load fails with an error. My work-round is to replace any string &#x with XXX and re-run the EPG load. I use DVBGUIDE to generate the EPG XML. The problem doesn't often happen as it appears to be a rare event where the string is ...
YES INDEED!! That fixes the ? and Gear Thanks.
I think all the above is fixed with only one file change. https://sourceforge.net/projects/tvschedulerpro/files/TV%20Scheduler%20Pro/Rev298/Hotfix/epg-matchListEditText.html/download Try replacing the file in "C:\Program Files\TV Scheduler Pro\http\templates\epg-matchListEditText.html" with the file linked above. ? and Gear should now work as expected.
Thanks for posting these bugs, it does appear they have been there forever. Will fix in 299.
It does help, Mark, thanks ! If it does the same things (even if slightly "amiss" like now) then it's a go for me. I'm keen on the "Updated Australian Stationdata to ACMA October 2025" :) I don't understand what this one means : "Added --enable-native-access=ALL-UNNAMED to wrapper, start.bat etc." but am willing to take a chance. Just wondering as a final "dot that 'i' before upgrading", may I enquire what was enough for you to revert back to 297 ?

The star before, around and after text work as expected. The previously mentioned "?" that doesn't do anything has always been like this. When creating a new Match Item there is a "GEAR" to insert things like the channel, category or title. There is no such "GEAR" when editing an existing Match Item. Another one that has always been like this. You learn to live with and work around any quirks!!! Hope that helps.
Thanks. Mark, does everything else in the matchlist work (eg "*" before and after text ) ?
Sorry to do this but back to 297!! In "Edit Text Match" there's a "?" at the end of the text line that doesn't do anything. System - EPG Match List - SPANNER - SPANNER - "?" The "?" doesn't lead anywhere.
Thanks ! Will install tomorrow.

Hi All, This release started out to address the missing Ignored "X" in the EPG that Mark Newton pointed out. In doing so I found a few things due to JAVA 24+ that I figured should be addressed so quite a few bring up to current java stuff has been done as well. Full changelog is: Version JC.298 - 2025-11-07 1. Fixed missing ignore flag in Calvi and Horizontal EPG's. Also Scaled better for Vertical EPG. 2. Updated Tanuki Wrapper to 3.6.3 3.
