Patent-free (this might also be true of SSH after September 20, 2000).
gcc.gnu.org wants it (ask Jeff Law for details)
Ulrich Drepper wants it (again, ask him for details).
Various other people, who might not care between Kerberos and SSH, are still using Kerberos. In order to identify these people (and keep them happy across upgrades) it might be good to require a .k*login file to explicitly be set up (if anyone knows how to do that).
We need to upgrade to MIT Kerberos 1.2.x or later, or the Kerberos in the Red Hat 6.2 errata. Should be possible to do this without KDC access (just save the srvtab file), at least we think so.
A separate item is changing the canonical host name to sources.redhat.com. When this is done, there is a change which will be needed to Kerberos (on the KDC? not sure about details).
Currently, sourceware.cygnus.com is in the CYGNUS.COM realm. We perhaps want to create a new realm specific to sources.redhat.com at some point (there were some abortive attempts to set up a KDC for "egcs" but that name obviously is kind of out of date :-)).
