What a weekend at PyData London!
I'm only just beginning to recover. Three days of fantastic conversation, wonderful community spirit, and some of the most knowledgeable people in the data and AI industry. With attendees coming from around the world to share knowledge and lift each other up. As ever I’m so struck by the wonderful community spirit
We had a fantastic range of content across all three days and the different types of talks. With fantastic Keynotes from Samuel Colvin, RL Nabors, Jeremiah Lowin, and Martin O'Reilly. We had 12 great tutorials and 42 wonderful talks, as well as a smattering of unconference talks too!
I never get a chance to see as many talks or chat with as many folks as I mean to, so please do feel free to DM me if you want a chat!
This conference wouldn’t have happened without a huge amount of effort from the team over the last 12 months. So I want to say thank you to a few folks who've helped make this year happen. Kerry Parker, Jyoti Y., Linda Uruchurtu, and John Sandall took on more responsibility than ever. We changed the way we worked and all four of them stepped up. They led their teams to achieve things we hadn't been able to do in the past, and I think, put together the best conference we've ever had.
Thank you to all of the organisers who’ve worked so hard as part of these teams, in no particular order; 👨💻 Emlyn Clay, Hugh Evans, Adam Hill, PhD, Atharva L., Alexandra Ross, Andrew Weeks, Tun Shwe, Fei🏄🏻♀️ Phoon, Luciana Gattuso, Moises Frias, Tuğba Şabanoğlu, Jiarui Cao, PhD, Grace Farayola, and Elizabeth Osanyinro. As well as all of the volunteers who helped make the conference itself run so smoothly
On a personal note, this has been my third and final year as conference chair. It's no exaggeration to say that it has changed my life profoundly. PyData London is a wonderful community and I'm proud I had a chance to help lead but it really only works because every member of the community shows up and cares.
I'm really happy that next year we've got two fantastic chairs taking over: Prashant Tiwari and Jiarui Cao, PhD, two incredibly dedicated organisers who've spent a huge amount of time, effort, and energy helping the PyData London monthly meet up work for years and years. I know they're going to take the conference from strength to strength.
Of course I want to thank the fine folks from NumFOCUS, most especially Tomara Youngblood!
Mariel Kanene, Jim Weiss, Marc Ostertag, Rachel Kerestes, Jonathan Starr, Leah Silen, and James Powell for their help and support over the years!
As for me I'll see you all at the conference next year, at PyDataMCR every month, and at PyData Amsterdam in September!
