Epilepsy requires accurate diagnosis through systematic classification of patients for effective treatment, targeted therapeutic interventions, and structured research for enhanced patient care. Over the past few decades, the four-dimensional epilepsy classification (4D-EC) that includes seizure classification based exclusively on ictal symptomatology has been widely adopted and tested. Recent studies have defined a mapping between the 4D-EC and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) classification for seizures and epilepsies (ILAE-EC), which is likely to further advance the adoption of the 4D-EC. However, the absence of a dedicated informatics platform to implement the 4D-EC has limited its widespread clinical implementation and educational use. Therefore, we developed the first 4D-EC informatics tool to facilitate patient data reporting, analysis, and training of new investigators. Our web-based tool incorporates standardized terminology, dynamic user-driven workflows, and automated summary generation, enhancing clinical decision support and training of epileptologists.
