George Westinghouse built his legacy on making technology better, faster and more efficient, founding Westinghouse Electric and 59 other companies and earning more than 360 patents. His innovations transformed rail travel and electric power, establishing a culture of engineering leadership that extended into nuclear energy in 1957, when Westinghouse supplied the world’s first commercial pressurized water reactor. Today, Westinghouse technology remains the basis for approximately half of the world’s operating nuclear reactors.
