Re: Feature suggestion: "Recovery Codes" info type for records
Hey deadflames this has been a request for a couple of years now. I agree this would be a great feature to add, from a security and ease perspective. Until this specific feature is added, I have gone through several temporary fixes, from using the notes to a multi-line password field, etc. The current system I have sort of been using is having a secure note (Apple Notes) that is password protected/encrypted. This way, if for some reason I cannot access 1Password, I might be able to bypass the MFA with one of those codes. Some of the other options I used: Copy/Paste the recovery codes as-is into the 1Password Login notes section Issue: Easy to copy/paste code when needed, but everything is easily visible Multi-line password field Issue: Secures from shoulder-surfing, but not easy to copy/paste single codes Separate password fields in a section MFA Recovery codes Issue: "Most secure" but adds extra up-front work, having to create a section and anywhere from 5-10 "password" fields for each backup/recovery code Attach the recovery codes as an attachment to the 1Password Login Issue: Good for storing the codes, but not practical when needing to use them25Views0likes0CommentsRe: Random but Memorable 16.7: What to do if you’ve been hacked
Between the response plan we provided them and the details from this episode, I believe they are in a good spot now. Not to mention, getting the customer to add a license for this user to get on the 1Password account!32Views2likes0CommentsRe: Import, autofill, organize: What's new in 1Password this quarter
Looking forward to using this with new customers that we onboard ("A direct way to move your credentials into 1Password"). In most cases, we get on a video call with them and walk them through the steps -- disable backup temporarily, export, import, delete, empty trash -- it's been a pain, but doable. This direct connection to transfer, hopefully without the need to download first would be a great improvement and reduce some of the friction we have no. The Last Pass connection that has been available for well over a year (or two maybe) has made a couple migrations into 1Password extremely painless. I thought I missed a step somewhere in the process, until we saw the customers' items were fully populated. Simpler password creation on iPhone and iPad and Smarter login item creation might also be great improvement for my workflow. In many cases, I am creating accounts on my phone, either switching between 1Password and the app/webpage, or with my computer nearby to create the 1Password entry -- create the account, edit the URL, and create the password, just to copy it back to the phone. Looking forward to these improvements!! Keep them coming!124Views1like0CommentsRe: April 2026 at 1Password: Post-quantum protection, External Checks close the access gap, and AI-era security
I was late to the party learning about the Chasing Entropy podcast, but it's been a great addition to my podcast listens since last Fall. Happy to see Season Two was released a few weeks ago. Beyond Random But Memorable, Chasing Entropy adds additional value news and knowledge. The latest episode with EvilMog was another good one.112Views0likes0CommentsRe: Random but Memorable 16.7: What to do if you’ve been hacked
This was a great episode and released at a good time -- just after we dealt with a customer who had an end user reporting their personal Google account had been hacked. We had already provided our recommendations to fix it and improve their security posture, but I was able to provide this episode to the customer as an additional reference of what to do. Keep up the great podcasts!48Views2likes3Comments
