Christian Ullenboom started out on a C64, worked his way up through Amiga assembler, and then got stuck on Java—he's been there ever since. In 1997 he founded the training company tutego and has since guided thousands of participants through Java, Spring Boot, and Jakarta EE, from large corporations to the public sector.

He completed his computer science degree in Paderborn in 2005 and was named a Java Champion the same year, a title held by only a handful of people worldwide.

His most renowned book, “Java: The Comprehensive Guide to Java Programming for Professionals,” is the English edition of a standard German reference that has been in print since 2001 and is now in its 18th edition. Other successful publications include “Spring Boot 3 and Spring Framework 6” and the two volumes of “Java Programming Exercises.” A comprehensive handbook on C joined the shelf recently, and he is currently writing a book about the Java Vector API. On the side, he reviews other people's books as a technical editor and interviews their authors on Rheinwerk's README podcast.

When he isn't writing or teaching, he builds things nobody asked for: a BASIC interpreter for microcontrollers, a spreadsheet for the terminal, a Pong game controlled by Kinect, and mobile apps. More at ullenboom . de.

Christian Ullenboom lives in Sonsbeck on the Lower Rhine and enjoys traveling the world in his spare time.
