About the Author

Leonard Susskind is the Felix Bloch professor of Theoretical Physics at Stanford University. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the Dirac Medal, the Galileo Medal, and the Carl Sagan Prize for Science Popularization, among numerous other honors. He is the author of the New York Times-bestselling The Theoretical Minimum series. He lives in Palo Alto, California.    
 
André Cabannes holds a PhD in statistics from Stanford University. He works in management consultancy and entrepreneurship and was the translator of The Theoretical Minimum series into French. He lives in France.

    Leonard Susskind (born June, 1940) is the Felix Bloch professor of theoretical physics at Stanford University, and director of the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics. His research interests include string theory, quantum field theory, quantum statistical mechanics and quantum cosmology. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the US, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, an associate member of the faculty of Canada's Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and a distinguished professor of the Korea Institute for Advanced Study.

    After completing scientific studies in France (Ecole polytechnique) and in the United States (Stanford University PhD in Statistics), André Cabannes began his professional career in the academic world (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, instructor in the mathematics department), before turning to management consultancy and entrepreneurship (consultancy to executives, publishing on paper support, cdrom and internet). Today he shares his activities between lecturing and publishing.
