Editorial Reviews
Review
-- Brian Julius, Chief Content Officer at Enterprise DNA Ltd.
"DAX is addictive, and the longer you work with it the more you demand. While the initial focus was on management information, today the aim is much broader and demands efficient control over administration and forecasting. This book is the perfect answer to these demands. Among other things, it discusses the flexibility of graphs with the help of dynamic DAX measures. Fast response times are tackled with an explanation of the basic principles of setting up a good model and the dos and don'ts of complex DAX formulas. As far as the broad applicability of DAX is concerned, extensive attention is paid to chapters such as intercompany matching and inventory forecasting. Advanced security is explained on many different levels. In short, this book is necessary if you want to take the next step with DAX and visualizations. It is the perfect combination of theory and practice."
-- Hendy de Geus, Finance and ICT Manager, vanRijsingengreen
"Extreme DAX does a wonderful job, starting off with what DAX is, how it works, and some great working examples to get the user started on their DAX journey. It then goes on to describe many real-world examples of where DAX is needed for organizations to get better reporting. I found this book an excellent resource and I learned a few new DAX tricks along the way. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to better understand DAX and leverage the learnings from the book in their day-to-day business activities."
-- Gilbert Quevauvilliers, Power BI and Data Analytics Consultant, Fourmoo
"Extreme DAX needs to be a resource for all Power BI users! Yes, there are likely already some great books on DAX on your bookshelf, but this book is different; it is much more focused on real-life use cases for business decisions. It will help elevate your DAX knowledge, along with touching on when and where DAX should exist in your data model. I was so excited to learn about building a date table for fiscal periods where the period did not match a calendar month. There is also an entire chapter devoted to inventory analysis. Using Power BI and DAX for inventory calculations, including (and especially) forecasts, can be the very thing that makes or breaks a business. There is so much more than I've mentioned. In short, it’s an awesome book. I’m all about Power BI and enterprise resource management systems, and Henk and Michiel have provided guidance that has already proved valuable to me, and will no doubt continue to over time."
