Highlights from the last week in the Biosphere 🌐
Bio Launchpad Season 2 Preview
Season 1 of the Bio Launchpad generated a wealth of data and learnings across our first 5 BioAgent and IP Token launches, with 8k+ participants funding innovations in stem cell research, men’s health, psychedelic science & more.
This past week we announced Bio Season 2, including key upgrades to BioXP and Ignition Sale mechanics, as well as integrations with @Coinbase x402 to power scientific AI agent commerce, @aerodrome pool launcher & @BNBCHAIN.
Preview of Season 2:
- $BIO Staking Incentives: Season 2 puts BIO staking at the center, unlocking more BioXP and new kinds of rewards for BIO stakers. We will also publish transparent staking formulas for the community to more effectively track & optimize BioXP earnings.
- x402 Agentic Science: The x402 payments protocol by Coinbase is being integrated with BioAgents - Bio's open-source framework for AI Co-Scientists - powering agent-to-agent and agent-to-human commerce across research and consumer health use-cases. More below on use-cases being developed.
- Pool Launcher: The @AerodromeFi pool launcher will power new Ignition Sales on Bio, starting as USDC/Asset pools post TGE, with BIO/Asset pools added for successful tokens that show ongoing traction. This allows Bio to support vastly more launches, including permissionless launches, while minimizing risk to BIO holders. Importantly, eligible tokens that launch on Bio will become directly tradeable on @Coinbase on day one.
- Bio Creators Program: The Yapping XP system is evolving into the Bio Creators Program where you can apply to earn BioXP from your content. Details on the application process to be shared.
- BNB Bridge: Bridging BIO to Binance Smart Chain (BSC) - and creating the pathways for other ecosystem assets to be bridged.
- + More TBA - the above is just a small glimpse at what's coming in Season 2, more details to be announced!
With S2, Bio is evolving from a high-touch launchpad into a permissionless factory for decentralized biotech. Listen to Bio's Open Lab X spaces w/ Bio CPO @cl2pp & DeFi quant @0xprofessooor to hear more details on Season 2.
x402: Payment Rails for Agentic Science
BioAgents are “agentic science machines” - continuous AI-driven workers designed to execute tasks in the R&D lifecycle, such as reading literature, hypothesis generation, and designing experiments. They are trained on custom datasets uploaded to knowledge graphs and curated by researchers and distributed research communities.
The first BioAgent, @Aubrai_, a longevity co-scientist, was co-developed in partnership with @vitadao and the renowned longevity researcher Aubrey de Grey. Additional BioAgents were recently launched in the fields of men's health and gut health, with more on the way in Season 2. Eventually, as more BioAgents launch, they can coordinate across different research domains and offer services to third-parties: human-to-agent, agent-to-agent and agent-to-lab.
The x402 payment protocol by Coinbase will be used to issue and receive payments across this emerging economy of DeSci agents, unlocking a number of potential use-cases, such as:
- Hypothesis & Knowledge Graph Refinement: Agents compensate researchers for hypothesis feedback or improving agent intelligence by uploading new data, papers and findings to an agent's knowledge graph.
- Agent-to-Agent Collaboration: Agents exchange computational insights - eg., Agent A (Genomics Specialist) sells preprocessed embeddings, Agent B (Drug Designer) pays via x402 when retrieving cluster signatures.
- Pay-Per-Analysis: Agents expose computational pipelines as on-demand services.
- Pap-Per-Data Access: Agents host premium or proprietary datasets with fine-grained micro-billing per retrieval request.
Stay tuned for upcoming x402 releases as part of the upgraded open-source BioAgent framework launching in Bio Season 2.

Ecosystem Updates
- VitaDAO are testing whether AI can design better longevity drug combinations than humans using the Aubrai agent & other AI models, with upcoming IP Token launches based on top-performing combinations. They also presented at the Nordic Aging Conference, highlighting @Aubrai_ & a VitaDAO-supported project received an award for research on small molecules to slow dementia.
- Curetopia analyzed their 10 ARS drug screens, doing high-throughput screen of 8,400 compounds, revealing that mitochondrial ARS2 variants respond better to rescuer compounds with fewer sensitizers compared to cytoplasmic ARS1 variants across five amino acids. These efforts could expose vulnerabilities that can accelerate therapies for ARS disorders.
- Pump Science's Season 2 of the F1y Grand Prix went live focused on real fly races on tokenized performance enhancing compounds, with Rapamycin winning the first race.
- PsyDAO is running the first systematic study on microbiome & psychedelic interaction at Edge City in Patagonia in partnership with @microbiomedao.
