Hey everyone! I am currently a B.Tech. computer engineering student at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Batch 2023-2027). Since a lot of juniors have questions about how getting into BBAU actually works, I decided to share my real experience with the JEE Main admission process here.
How the Admission Actually Worked
Unlike the students who come in through CUET, my entire admission was based on my JEE Main rank. Here is how the process went for me:
- Applying: After the JEE results dropped, I had to keep a close watch on the BBAU website and register separately on their own counselling portal.
- The Waiting Game: I filled out my preferences, and then the waiting started. BBAU puts out multiple merit lists. It gets pretty stressful waiting for the cutoffs to drop, so my best advice is to just keep checking the site every day.
- Paperwork: Once I finally got allotted a seat in Computer Engineering, the physical document verification happened. They are super strict about this part. If your category or domicile certificates aren't in the exact format they ask for, it causes a lot of unnecessary panic.
Why I Decided on BBAU
When it was time to lock my seat, my choice came down to three main things:
- It has the Central University tag, which always looks good on paper.
- The fee structure is way more affordable than private colleges, giving a solid return on investment.
- The college environment leaves you with enough personal time to actually grind on platforms like GeeksforGeeks and build your own skills.
First Impressions on Campus
The campus is huge and very green, but the reality of engineering hits you fast. You quickly realise that professors aren't going to spoon-feed you everything you need for a job. My biggest help early on was connecting with my seniors. They gave me the honest truth about how to pass semester exams while keeping up with my coding streaks.
Challenges I Faced Early On
- The Bureaucracy: Figuring out the counselling steps and making sure all my legal documents were perfectly formatted was a huge headache at first.
- Changing Gears: Going from solving physics and math problems all day for JEE to suddenly learning data structures and programming logic was a tough mental switch.
My Real Advice for Juniors
- Sort your documents out now: Don't wait. Get all your certificates ready and verified before counseling even begins.
- Talk to seniors immediately: They are literally your cheat code for surviving exams and knowing which skills actually matter for placements.
- Don't wait to code: A lot of freshmen wait until the second year to start programming. Start building your basic logic in the first semester itself.
The whole JEE counseling phase is a lot to handle, but making it through taught me how to manage things on my own. Good luck to anyone planning their admission!
