NIT Kurukshetra is undoubtedly one of the best campuses an engineering college can have!
Our campus has campus that spans over 300 acres, it has everything an engineering college can offer, Huge library, canteens, Air conditioned class rooms, labs and CCN, single seater hostels, swimming pool, OAT, Jubilee hall, student activity center(SAC) etc.
Its placement and internship record has been overwhelmingly high, which is low now due to the recession(2024).
My campus experience:
I joined NIT Kurukshetra in November 2021 as a B.Tech student in ECE. Currently I am in my prefinal year summer vacation, I will be joining college in couple of months as final year student. I will share about my journey so far as well as things I planned to do in my final year so as to have no regrets in college life!
First year :
Our year was affected by covid, hence our first year was of 6 months(3 months for each semester). The first semester was completely online, but I made some really good friends, many of whom are still with me today. Online classes and exams were the best! but not when it comes to fests and partying with friends. We all helped each other in exam preparations and binge watched many web series.
We were asked to report to our campus on 9th April 2022, we all were excited!
Going to campus was really overwhelming. It was truly beautiful, and I could not contain my excitement about living in a carefree environment while pursuing my favorite course and hobbies. Rest of the semester passed in blink of an eye.
Second year :
Lots of new things happened, Hostel change, Classes schedule was not as hectic as it used to be, joined several clubs and met really good seniors! It was now clear what I wanted to pursue in my career, Started learning DSA and Web development. Some seniors really helped me in things I always wanted to excel in(Singing, guitar and programming).
We also witnessed out campus tech as well as cultural fests! This was such an amazing experience(Mentioned about these at the bottom)
Rest of my send year consisted of hanging out with my friends, late night parties and preparing for Internship session.
Third year :
My favorite seniors, with whom I had formed a really strong bond, graduated and left the college. It was bittersweet because while I missed them, I was thrilled that most of them were placed in FAANG companies. I thought this meant my own internship experience would be equally amazing. However, I quickly realized that things were not going to be as smooth as I had hoped. I was really disappointed by the number of companies visited our college for Interns, I kept on struggling till end of the 5th semester. Luckily I got shortlisted for interview with several companies, finally cracked internship at one of them(AutoRabit).
I finally got NOC(No objection certificate), and went to learn new things in SDE my internship.
This really thought me that life is not going to be fair, you will face things that make no sense, but you have to do it embrace it all and be patient.
College Fests:
We have 2 major college fests, Techspardha(Technical) and Confluence(cultural), It was an amazing experience to witness something like these!
- Confluence :
You will see everyone practicing for this one fest for like 3-4 months, people dance, sing, play instruments and all kinds of stuff! There will be many influencers invited to campus, we can see them perform and the fun games that our college seniors organize are out of the world!
All I would say is, even if you sit in your room entire day and everyday, fest time is not the time you should be in your room or at home. Fests are meant to be enjoyed to the fullest!
- Techspardha :
For all the Tech enthusiasts, this is like a heaven! It is not only the robots or critical thinking events, but also stage performances, inviting famous youtubers(Last time Aman Dhattarwal was invited) for talks and also Ted talks.
If you have passion in building things or organizing events, this will be best time to stay active!
Things I planned for my Final year:
I always wanted to perform on stage(Sing and play guitar) but I never had the time to prepare for it and perform, I was all into programming and had a mindset like, "Once I get a good internship, I will start living life!" which basically passed on from my JEE days, when I used to think, "Once I get into college, I will start living life!". The one thing I realized was that there will never be a phase where we will have nothing to worry about and can completely enjoy. Things will go on, and all you have to do is enjoy even in the worst situations without losing sight of your end goal. I'm having an amazing time reminiscing about all these years for this campus review, and I hope you will too someday. Cheers! :)
