Process Overview:
Microsoft visited our campus at NIT Jalandhar on 4th July for on-campus hiring for Software Development Engineer (SDE) Interns for the summer of 2025. The selection process was well-structured and competitive, with each stage assessing key skills relevant to a software engineering role.
Eligibility and Registration
Microsoft set an initial cutoff of 7 CGPA for eligibility. Interested students filled out forms with details including CGPA, resume, and registration on Microsoft’s careers portal. After applying the cutoff, around 400 students were shortlisted to participate in the first round: the Online Assessment.
Selection Rounds
Round 1: Online Assessment (OA) - 12th July
The Online Assessment focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), designed to gauge problem-solving abilities and foundational coding skills. The questions were in the easy-to-medium range, enabling us to demonstrate both efficiency and optimal solutions in DSA.
Round 2: First Technical Interview - 16th July
The first technical interview, held on 16th July, was an in-depth assessment of core computer science subjects and programming fundamentals, particularly in C++. The interviewer asked me to solve an array-based question and discuss multiple solutions. This round required a deep understanding of algorithmic concepts and problem-solving approaches, making it both challenging and rewarding.
Round 3: Second Technical and HR Interview - 18th July
The final interview was divided into a second technical segment and an HR discussion. This session included a review of my resume and projects, allowing me to highlight relevant skills and past experiences. We revisited core subjects and explored my technical background in detail. The HR portion focused on discussing life at Microsoft, where I got insights into the company’s culture, values, and workplace environment, which was truly inspiring.
Final Acceptance:
Shortly after the final interview on 18th July, I received my selection confirmation. This internship is an incredible opportunity, and I’m thrilled to start my journey with Microsoft!

2. Emphasize your projects and practical experience during the resume discussion.
3. In HR rounds, demonstrate alignment with the company’s values and culture.
This experience has been immensely valuable, and I’m grateful for the chance to learn and contribute at Microsoft.
