My JEE Exam Experience – Exam Hall Feel, Thoughts & Strategy

Last Updated : 22 Apr, 2026

Hi everyone, here is my JEE exam experience focusing on the real exam-day environment, thoughts during the paper, and actual attempt strategy.

Reaching the Exam Centre

My exam centre was around 1 hour away from home, so I went with my parents. After reaching, students were allowed inside the college premises and had to stand in long queues for ID and admit card verification. The process was strict and time-consuming, so reaching early helped reduce stress.

Entry & Verification Process

  • Admit card and ID were checked carefully
  • Students were lined up for step-by-step verification
  • Photograph and biometric attendance were taken
  • Multiple checkpoints before entering the lab

Inside the Exam Hall

  • Systems were pre-assigned
  • Rough sheets were provided
  • Instructions were clearly explained before starting
  • The environment was completely silent and disciplined

As soon as the exam started, the timer created instant pressure.

What I Felt During the Exam

At the beginning, those 2–3 hours felt very long and the pressure was real. A lot of thoughts started running in my mind —

  • What if today doesn’t go the way I’ve imagined for so long?
  • So many sacrifices and late nights suddenly felt like they were being tested in this one moment
  • What if I lose marks not because I don’t know, but because I panic?

When I received the paper, I was so nervous that for the first few minutes I couldn’t even focus properly. It felt like I was reading questions but not understanding them fully.

But after attempting a few questions, I slowly settled down, regained confidence, and got into the flow.

Paper Attempt Experience

I started with Chemistry as it was my strongest subject.

  • Some initial questions looked tough, which created a bit of fear
  • But after moving ahead, I found easier questions and gained confidence
  • Used the review option to revisit questions later

Then I moved to Mathematics:

  • It was lengthy, so time management was important
  • Avoided spending too much time on one question

Finally, I attempted Physics:

  • Questions were moderate with some tricky parts
  • Required both concepts and formula clarity

Time Experience

Initially, time felt slow due to nervousness, but once I got into the flow, the 3 hours passed very quickly, and I didn’t realize when the exam ended.

Paper Difficulty

Overall level: Moderate

Chemistry: Mostly scoring with some tricky questions

Maths: Lengthy

Physics: Moderate

Key Takeaways

  • Initial nervousness is normal
  • Start with your strongest subject
  • Don’t panic if some questions look difficult
  • Use review option wisely
  • Time management is the key

Final Advice

JEE is not about studying more, it’s about studying smart.
