Last Updated : 22 Oct, 2024

Recently Oracle came to my campus to hire project interns for a duration of 6 months.
There were a total of 3 rounds

  • Online Assessment
  • Technical Interview
  • Managerial+HR Interview

Eligibility: 7CGPA+

All the interview process was held offline at Oracle's office in Bengaluru.

Round 1: Online Assessment:

The Online Assessment was on HackerRank and had a total of 36 questions, including 1 coding question, 20 technical MCQs and 15 Aptitude MCQs all this had to be done in 100 minutes .

I was able to do most of the questions.

15 students were shortlisted for interviews and I was one of them

Round 2: Technical Interview: 1 hour

I was taken to the interview room by HR, where I met my interviewer. He was a really nice person and greeted me with a handshake. Before starting the interview, he made me feel comfortable by asking some general questions. Finally, the interview began with my introduction. After that, he started asking about my resume—specifically what I did during my internship, the challenges I faced, and how I resolved them. Then, he asked me about my projects.

We had an in-depth discussion about one of my projects. He asked me to draw an ER diagram of my database on paper. The discussion then moved to Firebase, which I was using in my project. He asked me several questions about Firebase, such as how the data is stored, how it's secured, and other related questions.

Next, he asked me to compare SQL vs. NoSQL, Python vs. Java, and Hashing vs. Encryption.

After that, he moved on to coding questions. He asked me to reverse a string. I explained my approach and wrote the full code on paper. He reviewed it and then asked how my code would handle edge cases. I explained what he was expecting.

He also asked about anagrams and requested me to write code to check if two given strings are anagrams. I explained the brute force solution, wrote the code, and then he asked about the time complexity of my solution.

Next, he shifted to DBMS and asked about ACID properties, DDL, DML, DCL, TCL, and normalization. He also asked how I would optimize a table.

Then, he switched to DSA again, asking about binary trees and the types of tree traversals. He asked me to write an algorithm to invert a binary tree, which I was able to do.

At the end of the interview, I asked him two questions, which he answered patiently and kindly.

Verdict: Selected for Managerial+HR Interview

Round 3: Managerial+HR Interview:50 minutes

Out of 15 students who gave the technical interview, 8 were selected for the final round, and I was one of them.

The interview began with my introduction, and the interviewer asked me to walk him through my resume. I explained everything that was mentioned. He then asked a couple of questions about my projects, such as what makes my project unique and why I decided to create it. He also asked me what the most important thing I learned during my internship was.

Afterward, he moved on to situational questions. For example, he asked what I would do if someone on my team wasn't working and the project deadline was approaching. He also asked how I would motivate my teammates when there's a heavy workload. There were about 4-5 similar questions like that.

Next, he asked behavioural questions, like, "Tell me about a time when you faced a challenge and how you resolved it," and others in that category.

After that, he shifted to general questions such as:

  • Why did I choose my college and why Information Technology?
  • Where am I from?
  • What are my hobbies?
  • What do I do in my free time?
  • If not software development, what would I pursue?
  • What lessons can cricket teach you?
  • How often do I go home, and do I have any siblings?
  • What do my parents do?

There were a few more questions that I don’t remember.

At the end of the interview, I asked him a couple of questions, which he answered, and finally, I thanked him and left the interview room.

The results were announced after some time, and out of the 8 candidates, only 2 were selected.

Although I wasn’t one of them, the experience I gained was invaluable.

Verdict:Not Selected
