Hello Geeks!
I’m thrilled to share my journey through the selection process of the Women in Software Engineering (WISE) Cohort 1 Program by Talent Sprint. This 12-month program is designed to empower women engineering students aspiring for premium tech careers. Here’s an overview of the application process, selection rounds, and my take on the program.
Application Process
The application process began in June 2024 and was entirely online. It included three rounds:
- Round 1: Aptitude + Technical Test
- Round 2: English Language Test
- Round 3: Personal Interview
Round 1: Aptitude + Technical Test
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
This round consisted of two sections:
- Aptitude Questions: These covered basic concepts and were relatively straightforward with proper practice.
- Coding Test: Two beginner-level coding problems to solve within the given time.
Tips:
- Stay calm and focused during the test.
- Use the mock tests provided after registration to familiarize yourself with the format.
After about 9–10 days, I received an email confirming that I had cleared this round and qualified for Round 2.
Round 2: English Language Test
Duration: 45 minutes
This test evaluated English proficiency across four sections:
Section A:
- 18 questions requiring you to read sentences or a paragraph aloud (15–30 seconds each).
- Listen to audio clips and repeat them aloud.
Section B:
- Speak on a given topic.
- Preparation Time: 1.5 minutes
- Speaking Time: 1 minute
Section C:
- 34 multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions on grammar and general topics.
- Duration: 15 minutes
Section D:
Listen to an audio clip (no pause allowed) and answer 2–3 comprehension questions.
Tips:
- Brush up on grammar and practice active listening with online resources.
- Use wired earphones for better audio quality.
Round 3: Personal Interview
Duration: 15–20 minutes
This round included:
- Self-Introduction: A brief introduction about myself.
- Coding Task: Revisiting one of the coding questions from Round 1 and solving it on a notepad.
- Technical Questions: Questions related to programming and general technical knowledge.
- Program Details: Discussion about my interest in joining the program and attending offline bootcamps.
- Q&A: I asked about the trainers and the program structure.
Tips:
- Know your strengths, projects, and coding skills well.
- Practice with mock interviews to build confidence.
- Stay polite and composed throughout.
Final Thoughts
While I ultimately chose not to join the program since it was a paid initiative, I believe it’s an excellent opportunity for those willing to invest in learning and networking. The WISE program offers a supportive community, advanced tech skills, and career-enhancing resources.
If your goals align with what the program offers, I highly recommend giving it a try!
Best wishes,
