Wipro Elite Interview Experience

Wipro visited our campus for the role of Project Engineer. The selection process consisted of 4 rounds, and each round was an elimination round.

Round 1: Online Assessment

The first round was a written test conducted via AMCAT, which had 5 sections:

  • English Section: Questions on sentence arrangement, antonyms/synonyms, comprehension passages, and fill-in-the-blanks based on grammar rules (articles, prepositions, etc.).
  • Logical Ability Section: Topics included coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, missing terms in number sequences, and clocks and calendars.
  • Quantitative Ability Section: Questions on HCF-LCM, time and speed, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, and percentages.
  • English Writing Ability Test: We had to write an essay in 20 minutes on a given topic (100-400 words), which was evaluated for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Coding Test: Two coding questions were presented. One was to transpose a matrix, and the second was to check for balanced parentheses in an expression.

Suggestions: Practice speed and accuracy in solving aptitude questions, and focus on improving your essay writing skills for the English section. For coding, sharpen your data structure and algorithm skills to solve problems efficiently.

Round 2: Communication Round

Candidates who cleared the online assessment moved on to the communication round. This round had five sections focusing on various aspects of communication: listening, reading comprehension, spoken fluency, and articulation. Each section tested a different aspect of communication, evaluating clarity of expression and the ability to articulate thoughts in English.

Suggestions: Regularly practice speaking in English on various topics to improve fluency and articulation. Reading comprehension exercises and listening to English media can help sharpen language skills.

Round 3: Technical Interview (Business Round)

In this technical round, also referred to as the business round, the interviewer asked questions to assess core technical knowledge. Topics included Java programming concepts like inheritance, polymorphism, exception handling, and file handling. Additionally, there were questions on SQL, such as writing basic queries for JOINs, GROUP BY, and aggregate functions. Questions also covered the difference between linked lists and arrays and paging in operating systems. The interviewer focused on real-life applications of technical concepts to assess practical understanding.

Suggestions: Be well-prepared with fundamental concepts in Java, SQL, Oop. Focus on practical implementations of these concepts and review common DSA problems. Make sure you can explain your thought process clearly when discussing technical scenarios.

Round 4: HR Interview

The final round was HR interview, where the interviewers evaluated my personality, fit for the company, and alignment with the organization's values. They asked questions like "Tell me about yourself," "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" "Why Wipro?" and "Are you willing to relocate?" The HR also discussed my future career aspirations, team collaboration, and the company’s bond details.

Suggestions: Maintain a calm and positive demeanour throughout the HR interview. Be honest in your responses and show enthusiasm for the role. Demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt will leave a good impression. Ensure that you are well-versed in Wipro’s core values and how they align with your career goals.
