In this article, We will cover what is blue screen error(BSOD) and how to troubleshoot and fix this annoying issue on Windows 10.
Blue screen error :
Blue screen error (Blue Screen Of Death) is basically a stop error or exception error screen that is displayed on Windows computers following a fatal system error. It indicates a critical event, in which the operating system has reached a condition where it can no longer operate safely.
Causes of BSOD :
- BSODs are mainly caused by issues with low-level software running in the Windows kernel and occurs when Microsoft Windows encounters a critical error from which it can’t recover. The major reason for this is faulty upgrades in windows 10 or any windows file getting corrupted during updating windows.
- Apart from software issues blue screen is also caused due to faulty hardware, it can be due to battery, RAM, hard drive issues, etc. The chances of getting blue screen errors due to faulty hardware are very less and the majority of them are caused due to software issues.
- DATA_BUS_ERROR
- UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
- KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
- The first thing that you can and should try from your side is to read the error message that is displayed on your system and then google it for any possible fixes.
- Try to uninstall all the unnecessary apps on your PC.
- You can also use system restore to roll back your software to a previous healthy state.
- Try to check for any hard drive errors.
- Always check if there are any pending windows update or not. If pending then try to install it as soon as possible.
- It may also be the case that you are facing blue screen errors after updating your windows, then in that case you just simply need to uninstall the latest update you did and try to reinstall it again.
- Go to the official website of your system and download all the necessary and latest drivers. For example, If using a dell system then go to the official dell website to download all the latest drivers for your PC.
- Always use Antivirus software on your system because one possible reason for the blue screen can also be because of malware that may be affecting the Windows kernel at a low level causing system instability.
- Try to use the factory reset option to completely format your system to the factory state.
- If all the above methods do not work then I would suggest you give a fresh start to your system by completely reinstalling windows and then downloading all the latest drivers.
