Linking an Excel file (or a specific range/chart) to PowerPoint allows the data to stay connected. When the Excel file is updated, you can refresh the content in your presentation so it always shows the latest numbers.
Methods to link an excel file
Method 1: Link a Specific Range or Chart
Step 1: Open your Excel file and select the cells, table, or chart you want to use.
Step 2: Copy the selection (Ctrl + C).

Step 3: Go to the PowerPoint slide where you want the content.
Step 4: On the Home tab, click the arrow under Paste → Paste Special.

Step 5: In the Paste Special dialog box:
- Select Paste link.

- Choose Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object (for data/tables) or Microsoft Excel Chart Object (for charts).
Step 6: Click OK.

The content now appears on the slide and remains linked to the original Excel file.
Method 2: Link an Entire Excel Workbook
Step 1: In PowerPoint, go to the Insert tab.
Step 2: Click Object (in the Text group).

Step 3: Select Create from file.

Step 4: Click Browse and select your Excel file.

Step 5: Check the box Link.

Step 6: Click OK.
