SmartArt and Shapes help you turn text and ideas into clear, professional visuals. SmartArt is ideal for structured diagrams (processes, hierarchies, lists), while Shapes give you complete creative freedom.

Ways to insert SmartArt

1. Insert and Use SmartArt

Method 1: Insert SmartArt from Scratch

Step 1: Go to the Insert tab.

Step 2: Click SmartArt.

Step 3: Choose a category (List, Process, Cycle etc.).

Step 4: Select a layout and click OK.

Step 5: Type your text in the Text Pane (or directly in the shapes).

Step 6: Press Enter to add more shapes, or use Tab / Shift + Tab to promote or demote items.

Method 2: Convert Existing Text to SmartArt

Step 1: Select a bulleted or numbered list.

Customize SmartArt

  • Select the SmartArt go to SmartArt Design tab appears.

2. Insert and Use Shapes

Step 1: Go to the Insert tab → Shapes.

Step 2: Choose a shape (rectangle, circle, arrow, line, etc.).

Step 3: Click and drag on the slide to draw it.

Step 4: To draw multiple shapes of the same type, right-click the shape in the gallery and select Lock Drawing Mode.

Format Shapes

Step 1: Select a shape and Shape Format tab appears.
