Visa Internship Work Experience

Last Updated : 23 Jul, 2025

I completed my summer internship in 2023 at Visa, at their office located in Bangalore (Bagmane Tech Park).

The office has ten floors, with more than 100 employees working on each floor. Interns receive either a Mac or Windows laptop, depending on the team they are assigned to. Every week, they conduct learning programs, and after attending, you get some awesome snacks like burgers, pizza, Paris panini, samosa cake, etc. That’s part of the culture here.

Task

They have given me the task of creating a dashboard and setting up alerts related to the health of a Temporal cluster. Temporal is an open-source framework that helps reduce the time required for long-running processes. My task was to create a dashboard to monitor various aspects of the Temporal cluster's behavior, such as the number of client requests received, memory usage of the containers, and other key metrics.

In addition to this, I needed to set up alerts for scenarios where there might be a sudden increase in client requests or a spike in container memory usage. These alerts would help in promptly identifying and responding to potential issues.

  • Technologies used: Temporal, Prometheus, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Work I performed at Visa: Developed Dashboards and Alerts to ensure the optimal health of the Temporal Cluster.
  • Impact of contributions: Proactively monitored Temporal cluster behavior through Dashboards, promptly identifying and responding to anomalies through triggered alerts.

Work environment:

The seniors are very supportive. No matter how challenging the tasks assigned to you, everyone, including the managers, is always ready to help. Additionally, each intern is assigned an experienced buddy to assist with any problems they might face.

About Organization

The company culture is quite amazing. Each of the ten floors offers different dishes prepared by various chefs, including Mexican, Chinese, and Italian cuisine (the 6th floor, where I was interning, had Italian dishes). You can go to any floor to taste the dishes.

The office employees are very hardworking and supportive. Visa is well known for its culture. They hired more than 140 interns. At the end of the internship, they take us to new places. For example, during my time, interns went to Area83 in Bangalore, where we enjoyed different games like the giant swing, boating, and many amazing meals.

The team you work with also goes on trips every month. Unfortunately, my team planned a trip to Area83, which I had already visited, but it was still quite fun with the team members. I loved it.

When I was leaving the company after my internship, the team members brought a cake to cut and gave me some goodies. That’s the culture they promote. I only needed to return the laptop; I could keep other items like the Apple keyboard and mouse. This was a totally unforgettable experience.

Thank you.
