Manimajra State, located in present Chandigarh, was founded by Mani Ram in the 16th century as a Sikh jagir. It included 184 villages and later came under British control in 1875. The historic Manimajra Fort remains a notable structure.

Pataudi State was founded in 1804 by Nawab Faiz Talab Khan, an Afghan Pashtun, after aiding the British during the Second Anglo-Maratha War. Located in present-day Haryana, it comprised one town and 40 villages. The state merged with India in 1948.

The Langah Sultanate, which ruled Punjab in the 15th-16th centuries, established Multan as its capital. Founded around 1445, the sultanate prospered under Sultan Husayn I and controlled regions like Chiniot, Shorkot, and Derajat. Multan remained a significant trade center of the period.

Diwan Moti Ram (1770–1837), son of Dewan Mokham Chand, became the first Sikh governor of Kashmir in 1819. He also governed Jalandhar Doab, participated in the Multan campaign (1818), and served as a diplomat and military leader under Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Khaksar Movement, founded by Inayatullah Khan Mashriqi in 1930, aimed at Muslim social reform and self-reliance in British India. Mashriqi, a Cambridge scholar, promoted discipline, unity, and service among Muslims, mainly in Punjab, influencing pre-independence Muslim politics.

Jagjit Singh Anand (1921-2015) was a Punjabi communist leader and editor of Nawan Zamana (1963-2015). He was a Rajya Sabha MP, founder of Kendriya Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, received Soviet Land Nehru Award (1965) and Punjab Journalist of the Year (1971).

Ruchi Ram Sahni, from Punjab, researched atomic weights with Fajans in Germany and Rutherford in Manchester. He was a pioneer meteorologist, physicist, and educator. Sahni contributed to Punjabi scientific initiatives and was associated with The Tribune and Dyal Singh College as a founding trustee.

Bulleh Shah, a Punjabi Sufi poet (1680–1757), is famous for his mystical Kafi poetry. Kafi is a classic Punjabi form blending Sufi philosophy and music. Bulleh Shah’s verses focus on spiritual themes, and his association with Kafi remains influential in Punjab’s Sufi tradition and musical heritage.

Panjab Digital Library (PDL) is headquartered in Chandigarh. Established in 2003, PDL digitizes and preserves Panjab’s cultural heritage, including manuscripts, books, and rare documents, covering the Panjab region and related areas. It is managed by The Nanakshahi Trust and also operates the library at Virasat-e-Khalsa Museum.

Kikkli is a traditional Punjabi folk dance performed by two girls twisting in circles, holding each other’s hands with interlocked arms. It is distinct from Bhangra, Giddha, and Jhumar, emphasizing coordination, rhythm, and vibrant attire, often accompanied by folk songs and rhythmic clapping.
